All headlights failed!

Featured Replies

My son's 2008 Fabia 2 had no dipped or main beam headlights either side today. I can hear the 'shutter' operating so there's power to that.

Fuse 36 (main beam) is OK. Given there's a single H7 bulb on both sides, I'm not sure why the fuse list contains main beam (I think this must power shutter), dipped beam (L) and dipped beam (R). I haven't checked the dipped fuses yet, but doubt they could have failed both sides. I fitted 'night breaker' H7s some time ago.

Is there a headlight relay? No reference to any relays in handbook but if there is one it could account for both sides failing same time.

Thanks for any advice.

what about the bulbs ?

Bulbs often fail at the same time when the car hits a pothole or speed bump really hard.

Just replace the bulbs.

First thing I’ll check this morning, thanks

It was the bulbs, both sides. Thanks for pointing me towards something simple!

Funnily enough, I had the same thing happen recently... Both front LED'S (I know, but I like them. They look nicer and seem to shine on the road better and I have never had the oncoming-driver-flashing-the-lights-a- me scenario) Went very dim. The little fans were still working and they had a tiny, sidelight-like output so it clearly not a fuse related incident. Swapped them out for a pair of non-fan LED bulbs that are meant to be smaller in size, with a bigger proportion of heat-sink metal, so no need for the cooling fans. Time will tell if they last.

Can concur, I had the filament in the bulbs of my mk1 fabia go when I wrecked it a few years ago.
