Infotainment Slow to start

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Quick question for you. Have any of you experienced their infotainment systems slow to start up?

I have a regular issue where after I start the car the infotainment screen remains blacked out for several minutes. The reversing camera won't even engage and the Bluetooth does not start up.

When the screen loads up all is ok and then the phone connects and everything is fine.

But it is quiet annoying at times and it doesn't seem right to me, especially the fact that the reverse camera and Bluetooth remains off.

Has anyone experienced this and if so has anyone fixed this issue.

Thanks in advance

Keith

That doesn't happen with the Columbus unit in mine (MY17).

RVC comes on without any delays, Bluetooth is fairly quick to connect.

The menu's take a good 30 secs or so before they're available.

Same as above for mine.  The Columbus  doesn't boot especially quickly, but it's not several minutes and doesn't remain blank.  I'm not sure if data on the disk drive will slow it down - mine is empty.

We have a MY16 with Colombus and its lightning fast. All I can suggest is to remove any SD cards, unpair your phone and see if it boots faster now.

Thanks for the replies lads,

I have no SD card in it and never did, I just hook the phone up to smart link. I definitely think there is something up with it. Takes far too long to boot up sometimes. It's a trip to the dealer me thinks.

You could try a 'hard reboot' of the infotainment system. Hold down the on/off button, until the screen goes blank (about 10 secs), and then release.  It will then power up again.

Tried that several times with no success unfortunately. 👍

Make a force update of your fw.

My (2020) infotainment starts up fairly quickly, but Bluetooth takes 2-3 minutes to come alive.

How would I do that RomanB?

I did a scan yesterday and got this fault 'multimedia display unit 1, wire for signal open circuit'. Don't know if it's connected to my issue.

I have a dash cam wired in and have made a couple of OBD11 adaptations so I'm slow to give it to the dealer as I don't really want them finding things they don't need to be finding. Could blame me for the problem.

Sorry for delay force update could be done by long pressing menu button then chose swdl and chose all components for update. And sd with required fw should be inside slot 1.
