Android auto maps issues

Featured Replies

Recently my maps has packed it in, will come on and let you put in directions etc but the GPS locks where you've started the car and won't move along with your journey, so no idea where you are so it's worthless.

Installed waze which is a bit better, but find it very confusing and according to a friend it's not working like it should.

Figured it was a phone/maps/android auto issue and played with the settings to no joy and very frustratingly it all works perfectly on my other car... A bloody Hyundai.

Only thing I can think of is that my Skoda doesn't have it's own independent gps, but the Hyundai does, so I wonder does the phone work off the cars gps rather than the phones when struggling but that sounds very sophisticated...

Any suggestions before I just try resetting the cars infotainment system because can't think of anything else to try

Even when connected to the car with Android Auto or CarPlaythe phone uses it's own GPS.

I found that I left the phone in my pocket the GPS was very poor so now I get the phone out of my pocket and put it in the centre console.

So - I think I understand the OP problem. IMHO the GPS signal in an Octavia is poor around the area of the centre consule where the cup holder is. You need direct line of sight of the sky for good GPS reception. The only way you might be able to fix this is by retrofitting a GPS/Mobile signal booster which was an option on my old 2016 Scout - which requires the shark-fin aerial to be installed.

Are you sure you don't just need to recenter the map?

I agree had this happen to me soon after we got out Octavia and found that I had pressed the softkey on the map to fix the map display.

I've tried recentering allright and also going back to factory settings on Octavia, still no joy. The annoying thing is that it works perfectly on another car. Been keeping the phone in the same place I always had and it's always worked before.

Anyone know if there's been recent software updates? Car is 2016

Change the cable. 90% of issues with AA are cable or update related. You've ruled out updates as it works fine in another car.

The cable won't have anything to do with GPS issues, if AA stays on then the cable is fine. All the processing for AA is done on the phone and basically just mirrored on the Octavia screen.

Are you sure you have location services turned on, on the phone? Have you tried just using maps on the phone itself to see if that works? What phone is it?
