Enable automatic parking assist

Featured Replies

As far as I understand only the L&K version of the Superb comes with fully automatic parking assist. The Sportline edition has the camera with instructions for parking (which is also called parking assist to make it easier) and how to steer, but you have to do it yourself and after some practice the conclusion is: better just look at the camera and surroundings and steer your own way, because the instructions arent great to get into a parking place)

It appears that all hardware required is already available on the car and it's a software choice not to have it enabled. (Correct me if I am wrong.)

So I wonder if it would be possible to enable the feature afterwards in the car by a change of software.

(The car has a camera, sensors front and back, lane assist (which does the steering for you.) Even my 2016 Ford Focus fully parked the car by itself. The one feature this Superb is missing.

You are missing a sensor on each wheel arch to begin with.

That would simply answer the question. So odd that they dont offer the feature at all on the Sportline (and even if they did, that's too late now :) )

(For the record: When I say, they dont offer, that is in The Netherlands. It's funny to see differences of versions and options on those versions in different countries.)

I'm not sure if it's possible to retrofit this option. Even it it was possible it sounds like it would be very expensive to do - new sensors / wiring, new or different steering rack, coding?

I had "Park Assist" on my old S2 Superb Combi Elegance & it is also on my current 280 L&K. I've never used it or felt the need to use it on either car:mmm:. I don't trust automated driving aids & prefer to keep control of the car myself.

Similar for "Lane Assist" on my current L&K - it's turned off. However, Blind Spot monitoring function is useful & is turned on.

I appreciate there may be valid reasons why you would like this option on your car but I can easily live without it. I would have preferred a Pan Roof in place of the Park Assist but since I didn't buy the car new I didn't get the choice.

I have Park Assist on my 2017 Sportline, not sure what it cost as an option when new but would’ve preferred the original owner to have specified Lane Assist or Blind spot monitoring instead. Don’t know whether having it makes that easier to retro-fit those two, but I’m not sure whether I have the required front camera.

Even heated seats would’ve been more useful (is -7 degrees out there tonight) but they’re not really essential with the alcantara seats.

Used Park Assist once in a year of ownership. Is a bit of a gimmick - merrily twirling the steering wheel by itself.

I already have all those other features and I can tell the heated seats are great, even with the alcantara seat.

Lane assist and blind spot monitoring are great and use them all the time.

IMO a heated front screen is now a "must have" on any car - at least in northern Europe. More so than a heated steering wheel (put some gloves on).

Cruise control? - jury is out. I have used it a couple of times in 10 years on 2 cars but that's all.

Heated front seats, I have never used the drivers side heated seat. My wife & daughter regularly use the passenger & rear heated seated seats to toast their rear end's as soon as the weather gets a bit chilly.

Clearly you haven’t driven with a heated steering wheel... they are very nice!

The ACC is brilliant at making journeys less stressful.

Another benefit of heated seats is if you have back troubles, the heat in your lower back reduced pain dramatically.

I agree that a heated front screen is great. Happy to have that feature. Always had it on my Ford's before.

And (A)CC is one of my favourites and use it all the time. Seat heating is pure comfort but can do without.
