Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm gonna be collecting my spanky new vRS on Friday    and was getting on to thinking about what to check out for when i collect it cos it'll be my furst new car.

Well i mean any known issues i should check for before i drive it away etc......

I can think of the wrinkly seats but wondered if there was anything else anybody could think of?

Cheers

Dave.

Hesitation below 2500 rpm?

Rattly gear lever in neutral

Xenons aimed way too low (if fitted)

Should be a sensible amount of fuel in the tank.

.. there are probably others too

Horners of Bury tried to fool me by giving me 6 months tax on my brand new Octy!

what's the deal with the rattle on the gear lever in neutral?

Mine does this? Any particular reason why as opposed to just being a normal rattle?

Also look for wrinkly seats. Worth checking the central locking works the way you want; you can have all doors open with one push, or just the drivers and you can have the car automatically lock at 5mph. These need to be set up on the VAG-COM computer and your best chance of getting it free are when you collect the car (they wanted

the gear lever thing will go with mileage, mine did it at first but once it had a few 1k miles on the clock it was fine.

Regardless of car check to make sure there is no damage, the PDI has been done in full, spare in the boot, it has all the options that you ordered (I got shafted on this one once!)

Cheers

Dave.

Make sure you keep checking the oil if its an oil burner. They use it in the first 10 thousand miles.

Also bloody dealer stickers!!!!!!!

Also bloody dealer stickers!!!!!!!

Oh yes, make sure you remove the dealer sticker on the back window immediately - before it sticks to the HR window element and rips it off!

Having had problems in the past I'd already advised the dealer before the car was delivered that I'd be preparing a Defects List - something I've done several times in the past.

After 20,000 miles I'm still trying to find something to put on it! I suppose I could start on now I've found the thermometer seems to be overreading...
