Is a Superb 272 calling me?

Recommended Posts

The garage has said they will give the car a service before it is sold, which will be oil, pollen filter, air filter and full brake strip and a check over of the vehicle.

Can you just tell me what a "haldex" service is please as i haven't heard of that before i don't think?

Haldex is the AWD System & there is a requirement to change the oil @ 3 years / 30,000 months or sooner.

That is at the rear, there is a pump, it is not the back diff that is further to the rear.

( 4x4 System Oil Change. )

The £85 shown below if any dealer charges that might mean they are just changing the oil and not changing or cleaning the filter.)

So really for the Warranty that should be done as that is a Service item.

If you want to purchase a Skoda Used Car Warranty that needs to have been done.

The DSG needs to have been serviced @ 40,000 miles or sooner and if no record of being done it needs doing.

(It is not @ 4 years as this might have people think.)

the garage has sent through a service history certificate to me that reads:

date of service - 30.01.2018

type of service - Used car MPC

mileage - 7,001

date of service - 08.06.2020

type of service - Oil change service

mileage - 33,459

That is all i have, apart from it is on a 18,000 mile/2 year service interval

So that's a no then!

Talk with the boss about the car and what we are talking about here.

The website has customers that appear to big the place / staff up.

https://www.dalesautomotive.co.uk/testimonials.php

There are Facebook entries as well for Dales Automotives.    (remember, partners, friends, families and even employees can post in reviews.)

We assume that at least one spring was replaced for a MOT, maybe 2 were, maybe more.

The tyres with a bulge were replaced. Maybe more often than just for a MOT.

Maybe loads of Servicing / DIY servicing was done,

but then maybe not.  That is the rub.

It is an incomplete Service History / Record of Servicing and that is probably why the car is for sale at the price it is.

The RAC Warranties are really rather crap as in the Maximum Claim and even the Inspections.   So that is T&C's that need reading.

Any extended warranty you would buy could be money wasted without a Service Record to the Manufacturers Recommendations / Guidelines.

Skoda / VW do not like to use 'Schedule' to describe a Service Schedule.

I’m actually a bit shocked at how quick the 272 is (from YouTube videos of acceleration tests).

it hits 60 in about 5.1 seconds and cracks 200kph in about 17-18 seconds. If this is true then they are really quick. The amount of other “fast” medium/large family cars that can’t get near it on the 0-200kph test are surprising.

Yea they are quick with a remap. This is 360bhp 530nm. Tvs engineering box and engine
