Hey,

Regarding lock/unlock on app - do you lack the two circles, or does it tell you that this is not available for you? The two circles are located on the tab where you can see whether the car is locked/unlocked. If you have them, but upon clicking get an "error" - then they have to register your driver's license in the portal and enable it for you.
I did that today, in Bulgaria it is as complex as it can go, as the dealer here has made up a process to require authorization from the lease company and also requires a 5EUR payment... silly, but true.

pics below show no unlock/lock and on skoda connect site verified as dealer been show  drivers licence to activate, and the cheeky gits, surprised they havent done that here yet lol

  • Totally agree, we had the Elegance for 4 years replacing it with an SEL Estate in 2016 both of which served us well without any faults whatsoever and we towed throughout France, Spain and Portugal so

  • apparently its all going to be forwarded on as they aint happy them selfs as its a brand new car and should not be doing this. Will ask to see that its been forwarded on, half of it is software and i

  • If you report the faults within first 30 days, and Skoda is unable to fix them (and dealer not booking in car for a while is not fixing), then should be able to reject without questions.   T

Thanks, I get the screen depicting if car is Locked/Unlocked and Parking Lights but no option to use Lock/Unlock despite me being verified by the dealership!!

That is weird. Have you paid for remote access? My car has it bundled for free for 1 year, but if not it is like 60 eur or something.

no not paid as you get the year for free when from new

I have the free access bundle also but can access the physical Lock/Unlock facility only with if the car is locked

I have reported the following faults to dealer and have booked me in for 27th jan for 2 days, they are as follows....

Passenger seat - repaired last month as was squeaking loudly when passenger using seat, they found a defect (seat rail or something) now broke again

Air bag error

Proactive occupant protection system unavailable

Parking assist error

Start/stop error- start stop hardly worked since last error

Sensors slow - mainly front

Issues when start cold - infotainment stuck and lights dont come on (welcome home and interior lights till ignition pressed)

Front assist limited availability

No lock/unlock on app

will keep you updated for anyone else having any of these issues

So got car back other day and an update....

with seat - turns out what was replaced before was not the fault and its something else according to skoda uk as they have seen this with a few other cars, waiting for part as it dont exist to buy atm.

airbag error came up for them one morning but it did not store a fault so they cant do anything?

everything else has gone to skoda uk as a report, nothing appears to not work for them.

auto start/stop has worked once in about 2 months, i mentioned this to them and i said my old car had start/stop and the car they gave me worked everytime, he said it apparently worked for the technician as it should and maybe this car has different parameters for it to kick in???? I mean jesus could they talk any more bull****, said car had a slight update and they hope they fixed my issues, since having the car back start/stop not kicked in once ive had heating off, everything completely off, long and short journey, maybe this technician has special skills that i dont.

So basically to them it works and they do not care, will be booking back in when this magic part for seat is made and arrives and will be mentioning still got these issues and want the log or ref number they using for skoda uk and will speak to them my self as the dealers just could not care

Does anyone in the UK have the ability to lock / unlock in the App? II've been told by Skoda UK that it might not be available on all cars. Amongst other problems, 'm trying to get my dealer to fix this but I'm running out of time while I've still got some leverage to get them to do something.

If someone has this and can put a screenshot on here of the screen with the buttons available then I'd appreciate it.

I'm in the UK and don't have it. I've emailed Skoda through the app store about it not working. Everything suggests it should work.

Czech side were quick to reply. It's been passed to Skoda UK who as yet haven't replied in three days.

Likewise, it is one of the numerous things which I have been trying to get resolved (in vein) via my local dealership and Skoda UK.  Skoda UK have said that it is not available on my vehicle although checking the app for compatibility it clearly states that it is!!  Also on collecting my car from another visit to the dealership I was informed that the KPH/MPH change issue - is not available on your vehicle!!  When arguing the case to change to imperial in UK they added 'That's the way it is, go back to your supplying dealership, it appears that they have mis-sold you the car!!  Eventually they agreed to check the car with me when I demonstrated the setting was present but would not change.  I left with them promising to look into it further!!

I’m on the verge of returning the car as they can’t resolve the sat nag units or the dash units. I’ve had the car just over 5 months and reported the issue on day 2. They’ve only really started to take it seriously since I raised the possibility of rejection. Since then, I’ve also wanted to get to the bottom of remote lock (been told by Skôda uk that it’s only available on some uk cars and mine isn’t one of them) and my matrix lights dazzling oncoming drivers.

they’ve got till the end of this week then I think I’m going to be car hunting again 😢

it's really hard to read such topics with all the issues you guys have. :worried:

Really does sound like your car is set up to never be in the UK. No mph and lights dazzling drivers.

Reading a lot of this worries me too as I've barely used my car, so any faults I might find could be months down the line when rejection isn't an issue.

Hopefully you'll get them sorted one way or another.

Finally a response!

She's only a year out of date.

Bought my 1st skoda in December 2012 tdi Octy. Saw new shape Octy in showroom and thought they really had upped the pace. With all these issues I might be wrong.

Meant to say Dec 2020, my octy is 2012 (new to me)

There are so many issues with the car. Driving is good but the software and cabin ergonomics are terrible!

Have had many Skodas and thought the MK4 would be brilliant. It isn't.

Like others I've virtually given up with Skoda as nothing gets corrected. I will never buy a Volkswagen group car again.

Now looking elsewhere as not sure I can live with this car.

God that's bad, I thought they would be great. Glad I'm driving a mkII.

Having read all the issues with the Mk4 Octavia with regards the software, it does make you wonder doesn’t it?I have had my mk3 for nearly 4 years now with no faults with exception of a fuel pressure sensor about a year ago.

Currently i I have no real desire to change cars when you read all these issues with tech on new cars. Car manufacturers should build cars and leave tech to the likes of Apple. I mean why you need an app to tell you the doors are locked?

Totally agree, we had the Elegance for 4 years replacing it with an SEL Estate in 2016 both of which served us well without any faults whatsoever and we towed throughout France, Spain and Portugal so very sadly disappointed with our new SEL 1st Edition which comes fully loaded with all the software faults imaginable and poor support to rectify same.  The car does drive well.

I'm sure you didn't buy Octavia 3 when it first came out, right? I'm sure they also had issue when the mk3 was first launched. As far as I know most car manufacturers have issues when a new model is launched. Ok, now days this is a bit multiplied since there is much more tech in the new cars.

Please don't understand me wrong. Some of you guys have way too much issues which I agrees they shouldn't happen. I'm not sure what would I do if I was in your shoes.

I came over from a Yeti SEL Drive which I'd had for around 3 years without any serious issue. I've now told the garage that I'm rejecting the car due to the collection of faults which they don't seem to have any resolution for (and they've only just acknowledged that the lights aren't working.

I think the newer build cars are probably a lot better but I just don't want to be a fault tester for the next few years

Got to be honest, I couldn’t tolerate the levels of non resolution I’ve been reading on this thread, and with growing consternation.
I ordered a vRS two weeks ago, and came back on here excited to see how the mk4 was shaping up. But these tech issues are just depressing.
I’m hoping you’re right and that cars being built in the next couple of months haven’t inherited the legacy issues you guys are dealing with.
Such a shame. Hope you get a swift resolution to your rejection. 👍🏼
