New 2021 VRS running in

Featured Replies

Hi all , im getting my new VRS this Tuesday and ive not had a petrol car since the early 00's. Do you still need to run the car in for the first 1k or is that old hat.

Can i have a bit of fun from day 1 ?

Christ at the rate I'm going it'll be summer before I hit 1000 miles 😞

This topic is like opening a tin of worms on forums

The car does come with the option to display oil, coolant and gearbox temps simultaneously. I have this permanently on display. Wait until all your temps are up and enjoy the car for what it is in a progressive manner. Keep an eye on all fluids. Enjoy it

Manual or dsg?

@parsey83 will most probably call me crazy  but my TSI still didn't go over 4k rpm . I'm at 1100 km at the moment. I'll slowly start to have some fun with it now.

When I picked up my car they told me there is no official recommendation for running in the engine since this is already done in the factory. I still decided to go slowly and wait a bit to get some millage on the car.

The engines are not run in at the factory before or after going into the car.

There is advice on 'Driving in;  the new car. (Running in as was always known in English)  in the owners manual.    Much as it has been for decades.    Arse covering advice from Skoda / VW Group.

Thank you @e-Roottoot for pointing this out.

Are you planning on keeping it? My running in period is normally from the forecourt to the main road then I drive normally.

I'm dying to floor mine but I've only done 180 miles so far!!! Must resist?????

Lucky man, I’d love another petrol vRS, but I’m being tempted by the iV model. What’s the spec of the one you’re getting?

Hi Pilot, its the petrol version in 245hp , Been out in her today , lovely. System though. on screen , loads to learn on where things are. Things like the fan speed but all will become apparent soon.

It sure will. I'm already quite used to it after 1200 km. Actually I don't change much when I sit in the car. We have sub zero temperatures and I only use max defrost button and temperature change. But at first it was quite a shock since I upgraded from 17 years old car.

I'm loving the automatic heated seat and steering wheel when it's cold.

That does sound very nice this time of year.

What do you mean by "automatic"?

There's an option somewhere in the settings to have them turn on when it's cold.

Uau...didn't know that. Thanks for the tip. Need to find that.

Personally I'd give it a few miles easy going then just drive normally. That's what I've done with engines I've built in the past.

You have a dedicated button on the steering wheel. As far as I know it should come as a standard on the VRS.

There’s a dedicated button on the steering wheel for the 3 stage heated wheel controls.

Yep. Really annoying that it brings up the climate control menu when you press it though.

The automatic option is in the climate control settings.

That's strange. Have you tried getting someone else to touch it see if anything happens then 🙄

On a serious note:I I'venever seen it listed as standard equipment but they all seem to have it. When I ordered mine the dealer wasn't sure.

When you press it it should pop up on the digital dash then cycle like your heated seats.

Car was built 23rd Dec i think , wonder if at that build it was deactivated. I read the manual and it says press one for max and 3 times to lower but dont see any notification. Ill try again tomorrow.

Tell you what is annoying me most is the connect store. Clicked in that spinning wheel , so googled that and some users here said wait 10-15 mins. So engine on , waited near 20 mins , still spinning. What did u do?

Here in Slovenia we have heated steering wheel listed under standard equipment.

@Greezy56 was your car running? When you press it once it should pop up a notification on the left side of the digital dashboard and at the same time the climate menu should come up on the infotainment screen.
