Knocking after Service

Featured Replies

As you may recall, I posted last week about my expensive service.

Anyways, the car has now developed a "knocking" noise when the engine is idling at traffic lights etc. It appears to be coming from under the dashboard on the passenger side. It is an "engine type" noise though.

Has anyone any ideas?

Stupid point, but totaly empty your glove box and see if it goes away?

Flap motor from converstations I have had.

Got exactly the same, they refitted it, but are going to look at it again in the next week.

Thanks

What is a Flap Motor?

(it sounds rude)

Christ knows but I think it's a motor that controls the flaps (Genius hey) to the air conditioning system for the blowers. I was told on here that it was about a £60 part but fitting took it to about £250 as it is burried behind the dash.

I'd do the glovebox check first, but mine knocks when standing still so it isn't that.

I take it this part will be covered under the warranty?

By the way, thanks for your help!

It was implied by others that it will be. As i said the fiddling with it on mine was, and I would hope that if the flap motor is gone the replacement would be assuming the car is under 3 years old and unmodified. (They seem to be very hot on the warrenty at the moment)

Where exactly is this flap motor thing?

Behind the dash board somewhere. Not sure where, but my knocking is comming from passenger footwell/that sort of area.

Try searching on it and there should be more info.
