Presence of MDI interface in Columbus MIB-3

Featured Replies

MDI connector was an option on MIB2 (my 2014 Superb had it), but not on MIB 2,5 anymore (my 2019 Kodiaq has it).

All you need is a USB to 30-pin cable, why are you asking about the proprietary MDI cable? If you have a MY21 car, you could just use a USB-C to USB-A adapter.

Are you saying that is present on mib3?

Already done. Ipod is not detected by the Columbus.

So the only way to have a personal library is to have an usb key connected all the time? No internal drive in mib3 right?

Check out your cables and adapters. Skoda likes good quality, doesn`t like cheap chn crap.

I guess so.

Theoretical possibilty is to add some bluetooth dongle to your ipod or real possibilty is to keep your music library on the phone and use bluetooth audio.

When I found that modern cars don’t like old iPods - and I have a few - I used my old iPhone 5 via BT with a selection from my PC iTunes selection.

However, I rarely use that now as I prefer a few cached bundles from my favourite Radio Paradise for a few hours of ad-less music on my day-to-day phone, which does not carry music. Via BT.

ps - I’m also grateful for my old 2020 Bear having the jukebox plus SD slot.

It's not a cable problem, without an MDI interface or a software decoder the system is unable to read the ipod library.

I've received an answer from an aftermarket dealer (navistore.it)  and they say the MIB 3 does not have MDI interface and there's no way to make an ipod with 30 pin cable to be readable from the appliance.
