Amundsen V3 destination import not working via connect

Featured Replies

Hi,

Although there are several other threads running about the new  MIB3 Amundsen and difficulties, I have found an interesting issue regarding using the connect App and wonder what others have experienced? Garage not that useful and Skoda taking ages to respond and now the agent is on holiday!

The Amundsen is registered OK, all services are enabled for the connect options (including destination import) and the Connect App correctly interrogates the unit for trip data, last journey, parked position etc as well as proactive functions such as flash lights.

As I did not like the 'new' VAG method of using map coordinated instead of real addresses, Skoda suggested that I try sending a destination to the unit using the Connect App (or the  Connect via web browser access) to see how the destination arrives.

On both the App and the PC the no destination is received by the car and at a later point an error message is displayed on the app saying that the destination could not be delivered..

Interestingly, the navigation options for a destination only show Favourites, Recent and Contacts from the phone book - no offline options.

I reset the head unit by holding the power button for 40 seconds - still the same.

Tried also using a WAN connection but nothing.

Nowhere in the main menu is there anything to indicate online features (such as Connect Services like on the Columbus).

I checked my subscriptions online and as  expected Infotainment and Care Connect online expires in December 2021.

Also via the Portal, it is not possible to set notifications or generate health reports.

The car was delivered in December 2021 and the Amundsen HW is H22, Software 0270 and the maps seem to have partially updated to 20.11 which is still not at the version reported by the update portal but that is another story running an an alternative thread.

Any ideas?

Congratulations on getting some of your maps updated - I'm still trying.

But to answer your question about sending destinations to your vehicle...

When I log onto Skoda Connect with my VIN, click on the 'HELP' at the top right hand of the screen, then 'Infotainment Online on the next screen, then 'Trip Planner', I get:

"Why is it not possible to send destinations to the vehicle?

We are currently working on introducing this function. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience."

Sounds like Skoda Support's left and right hands aren't connected again :)

Thanks Chris.

The map update is an interesting question. I had a message flash up saying to update and I selected OK.

Over the next few hours something obviously updated as it changed to 20.11 from 19.11. Still not the same as the portal!

What is worrying is that during this lockdown most of my phones data usage has been on wifi but during the period the update happened it used just over 3GB of data while connected. Can this be possible over Bluetooth if the Bluetooth has full connectivity? Maybe a coincidence....

Amazing that this MIB3 has been shipping by the VAG group for 6 months now (?) and this still does not work. Fun times ahead for all the cars they will need to update!

I would take it now that the system does not work 'as advertised' or 'as sold' so really hope they do a proper fix and do not just hope the issue will go away.

The support person was quite adamant that I should send a destination to the Amundsen from the App and as you say, Skoda seem to be totally disconnected between divisions.

Thanks anyway for looking at the help section - it was too obvious and I did not expect Skoda to make it that easy!

I had an online update last week, that flashed up a message to tell me me to update, but that was only to update the Shop app in the car and my nav database is still stuck on 19.11. But my data connection is via the inbuilt sim, not my phone or house wifi.

I emailed the Skoda UK's Karoq product manager yesterday, as I've had no reply from the Head of Customer Services to my snail-mail letter sent just before Christmas. I would hope she is more aware of the MIB3 problems than Customer Support seem to be.

If that doesn't get a response I'll escalate it to the Head of Skoda UK... another owner tells me he actually got a reply from him when he was getting totally frustrated with mechanical problems in his brand-new Sportline.

I would be happy to also email the product manager if I get no response over the next week.

Do you want to message me a private note of the email address? Head of Skoda UK as well?

Thanks.
