By random chance I've encountered my old vRS for sale...

...when I was considering buying another Skoda! It's listed on Facebook and is quite close by!

I bought it new and traded it in last March. I've regretted it ever since! The chances of coming across it again are miniscule, and I'd love to buy it back.

Only problem is, it's now a Cat S.

The seller doesn't seem to know much about the nature of the write off, is there any way to find out?

It won’t be very easy to find out if the seller doesn’t know/want to tell you. The S in Cat S, though, means structural so it’s had a crash. I would have no issues buying a cat S (it will be cheap ) but I’d want to know what the damage was and be able to inspect the quality of the repair. Might be worth paying for an inspection to see it’s been repaired properly.

Plenty of info on the Web. Some insurers will not insure these type of cars.

I wouldnt buy an old car I used to own. It wont be the same and specially if it has been in a crash. It could lead to allsorts of unknownissues. If you want another car like yours I would buy a newer year model.

Cheers all. I'll have a think and will certainly check out insurance options before proceeding.

I test drove it today and am now kicking myself for selling it.

I'm so torn!

Never go back to an old flame. It may be a tempting proposition, but all the old problems still remain.

Yep, I've decided to let it go. I didn't think cars would ever affect me, emotionally, until now!
