Nikon D50 newbie

Featured Replies

Hi,

I made some money last week as I turned 21 and decided to go out and spend some of it on a Nikon D50, 1GB card and case. The same day I went to whipsnade zoo and took 166 pics. I'll post some of the best later when I get home from work. It's an awsome camera, however there's a lot of things I have to learn and I can't be bothered looking through the manual (hate those things). The only let down is the zoom, or lack of with the standard kit so my question is anyone know of anywhere to get a (cheap) telephoto or decent zoom lense as I'm saving up to go on a proper safari and would like to get some closeups without getting closeup.

Also anything cool I should know about or try out on the D50?

I will of course be testing the camera on the furby, see if I can be artistic.

Cheers

Here are a selection of my best from my first day of using the camera. I tested out changing the shutter speed on the waterfall to see what effects I could get. What do you think for an amateur?

Some weird duck:

Would of been better if I never got the light reflection of the glass:

Funky lizzard:

Rattle Snake:

Giraffe, not the best animal but the pic came out good:

Waterfall (normal):

Lima's ready for action:

the pics are really good. For the artistic water fall pic id have take it with the same foal lenth as the first.

as for a cheap zoom lens look at sigma or tamron stuff not the best but good enough for most

I'll have a look at those.

I took several of the waterfall and those 2 just ended up being the best as I was trying to get the crow sitting at the top then it turned around.

Cheers
