Interior lights ON when Tailgate open

Out of curiosity and against my better judgement I've been out to the car.

With the car locked, I used the fob to open the boot. All of the interior lights illuminated and stayed on for 10 minutes -  I timed them. Surely in most circumstances this is long enough, but if not, then close the boot and reopen it and you'll get another 10 mins, or leave a door ajar as Mr Trilby does.

That is 100% not how my Kodiaq operates.

Open the boot with the car locked - only the boot lights come on.

Unlock the car first and all lights come on dimly. Open the boot and only the boot lights go bright. The interior lights switch off completely after a minute.

The only way to get the interior lights to illuminate and stay illuminated is to open a door.

It is annoying for me because the boot lights are easily blocked by items in the boot. It would be a big improvement if the third row seat lighting also came on when the boot is open - given they primarily illuminate the boot.

Not true, did you read my last post ?

Completely true with my car. There must be a variance between model years or options. Mine is 2018 with the extended LED interior lights option.

So, Kodiaqs are not created equal, VAG don't make things simple do they !

My apologies to Boxer Boy as it seems we're both correct and we still haven't answered the OPs original question.

Does any of you with a Kodiaq with interior lights on with boot open, have OBDeleven or VCDS?

For my MY20, the interior lights only turn on if the car is unlocked while opening the bootlid.

I have both, but my lights do not come in with boot lid.

And if you are not sure, what you are looking for, both are pretty useless. The lights channel list is literally miles long and just searching there in hope to find something is the same as the needle and haystack story.

I wanted to compare the code text of the two vehicles with some text comparison tool.

I seem to have the reverse problem. I’m at the drive-in cinema. Boot is open with the kids on bean bags in the back looking at the big screen out the back but all my interior lights are on and staying on.

Hangs head in shame. I’ve never even noticed the rocker switch before on the overhead panel.

Where is the rechargeable torch you mention Kenny R?

Ask the Skoda/VAG bean counters that removed it, and every year remove something else, such as only one umbrella supplied now, red lights in bottom of doors replaced with reflectors, carpet from glove box, etc etc.

Thanks Kenny R.
