Polo GTI front suspension spring

Featured Replies

I suppose this could also go in the what annoyed you today thread :notme:

Wife's just popped her NSF suspension spring.  I'm not able to DIY it as I'm still recovering from my hip replacement, so it's got to go to a garage.

Quote from VW - £489.  That's £11 shy of £500 to replace one broken spring FFS :o

They won't be getting the work.

I'm inclined to buy and supply the spring.  Can anyone in the know confirm the correct part number please?  It's a 2015 1.8 GTI DSG (192ps).

TIA

Hiya Gaz, does the car have a build data sticker in the boot area or inside service book?

Deleted previous attempt as I'd looked up Golf as opposed to Polo, doh! Back in a bit.

Just done what Wino alluded to.  According to the V5 it's a 6R chassis.  Not that I can see much difference as to 6C or 6R.

I can't get down low enough yet to look closely at the springs to check the dots.  Well I can, but getting back up'll be a challenge.  So flipping frustrating!

Knowing the springs to be OEM, I'm now wondering if I buy Kilen or Lesjofors, should I buy a pair, rather than just one?

We reckon Sally did it a few weeks back on a particularly nasty pot hole.  Probably partially fractured it then and the cold and wet finished it off as the 'my spring's bust' noise started when pulling off our drive a couple of days ago.  Dropped kerb and a minor camber - certainly not enough to pop a spring on it's own.

Wouldn't mind but when looking (as best I could) yesterday, I noticed she also needed two front tyres.  And in the evening her phone got hacked.  Hopefully that's the three things done.  Tyres replaced this afternoon, so it's at least now on four PS4's.

Kilen 25127 and Lesjofors 4095141 are identical to each other as they are the same springs, made in the same factory in Sweden...just marketed under two different brand names.

In the UK, Kilen are more widely available than the identical Lesjofors version...and usually cheaper.

It's usually said that springs should be replaced in pairs.

Garages often just replace one spring if it's under warranty.

If it's the same specification of spring and the ride height is the same both sides, you won't have a problem with the car's handling.

However, I always change both sides at the same time as the other side might break soon.
