Default user on Columbus MIB3

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have a question:

Two users have been configured in the Columbus in my wife's Kodiaq. I am the main user and my wife as the other user. She pointed out to me that when she gets into the car, the selected user is always mine, even though she was the last to drive it.
When it happens to me to take the car, sometimes my user is activated, and sometimes my wife's. I didn't understand if there is any logic in the car's user selection. It looks casual. Of course, the last user who was selected is not proposed.
Anyone have any information on this?

Thank you

Edika

I don't know how it works in other people's cars so this is only a guess. ( I have the personalisation option - do you know if your car has it? )  I'd have thought the system would at least have been consistent, that's to say each time you or your wife used the car, the same user would appear by default.

I'm guessing taking what you've written as a clue.

I'd have thought the system would determine what user is given priority based on which car key is used.  If both you and your wife share the same car key then the same user should be displayed each time you enter the car. If however you're not fussy on which key you use, then the system will display various results.

So try this...  use one key to unlock the car and check which user is displayed. Then lock the car, go get another key, unlock the car and see what user is displayed this time.  If like me you have three keys, then lock the car again, get the third key and see who comes on on the screen.

As I say it's only a guess.

You have to assign both keys to your user accounts. Can be done in Settings - Vehicle status (goes for MIB 2,5 but I guess it`s similar for MIB 3).

Profile comes active for the key that is used to open the car .

This is if you have Personalisation option.

You can also try this, found in the Superb manual:

Enable automatic storage
› Unlock the vehicle with the remote control key.
› Press and hold any memory button B (1, 2 or 3 buttons on memory seat). After the seat
has assumed the position stored under this button, at the same time press
the button  on the remote control key within 10 seconds.
The successful activation of the automatic storage function for each key is
confirmed by an acoustic signal.

When we start the car we get a screen showing the last user with the option to change use. If you leave the screen it will disappear and the car will be set to the last user. We do not have the personalise option on the car as only have 2 keys and no electric seats just 2 users set up in the car.

Today I tested the procedure with opening the car with my wife's key by registering her sitting position on the seat (without pressing any buttons on the key). When I opened the car in the afternoon, with my wife's key, the initial user was correctly set to my wife's user. As I was driving I selected my user on the Columbus and the system correctly loaded my settings by placing the seat on my registered preference and all. We parked the car, and when we took it back, always with my wife's key, the car welcomed my user and not my wife's user, so I realized that there was no no synchronization between the key and the selected user.

Did I miss something? What is the key saddle button I should press when setting the seat position? (from your message I don't see any image of the button, just a small square)

@edikaThe button is "unlock".

Do you have this option in the menu?

Th last one is for case if you don`t have the Personalisation option.

I've search through the menu and I've not found the Personalization option.

Maybe I have not this feature.

I've read somewhere that is possibile to activateit through odb.

I will make some research.

Thanks

You have 2021 car and you probably cannot do anything via OBD.

Read user manual, even my 2014 Suberb could have separate settings for separate keyfobs without having Personalisation.

Fortunately Kodiaq MY21 (MIB3) does not have SFD security as Octavia MK4 does.

That means that for 21MY it's still possible to do codings without any problems. But some codings (related to MIB3) are slightly different.
