Spare wheel

Recommended Posts

All,

Moving on from a Superb 2 onto a Superb 3. My current Superb is being left with insurers following a bump.

My new one only has the tyre fix kit.

Can I take the 16" spare and use it in the new Superb 3? Can I use the foam floor, under the floor in my new car?

I'm awaiting a Superb estate SE L 2018.

Many thanks in advance

Yes, should fit with no issues.

This is the 16" Spare in my boot.

compartment has enough space for full diameter tire, but not enough for full width - max 205mm

215/60R16 will be narrower if fitted to a 6J rim rather than the standard 6.5J rim.

215/60R16 fitted to a 6J rim will probably be more than 10mm narrower than a 215/55R17 fitted to the standard 7J rim.

That's incorrect - 215 will always b 215mm wide, regardless of the rim width.

Likewise, a 225 tyre will always measure 225mm wide.

If ur overstretching the tyre by fitting it on to rim too wide for it, like 215 on 8J, then that's not normal.

Actual width always depends on the width of the rim that the tyre is fitted to.

Take a look at Toyo's 16" tyres in the link below.

https://www.toyo.co.uk/tire/pattern/proxes-cf2

Toyo's 215/60R16 measures 221mm in width when fitted to the nominal 6.5J rim.

Toyo's 215/55R16 measures 226mm in width when fitted to the nominal 7J rim.

Toyo's 215/45R16 measures 213mm in width when fitted to the nominal 7J rim.

Thanks for all the replies and to

JR RS for the image.

One final one, under my current floor there is the foam base. Will I be needing that too?

Many thanks all.

Mine doesn't have any foam base on the floor.

Just the foam that holds all the bits n pieces, n sits inside the tyre, as per my pic earlier.
