46 - Central Convienience

Featured Replies

Yesterday I tried to enter the 46 central convienience module and with no avail.

VCDS was attempting 3-4 tries then a negative message was showing preventing from opening controller.

Could be the cause as I have replaced CAN Gateway with another  generation or not related?

Not sure when (or if) have got in that module in past..

The general autoscan does not report any problem in that module.

I had a similar experience, I wanted to change some settings for the alarm, according to Rosstech the module was number 46 IIRC central convenience, it was presented as one of the modules under the installation list where it only shows those fitted to your vehicle but I could not open it and got the same message as you.

I could open all the other modules, however when I opened the Body control module (I think, I am relying on my poor memory) all the long coding and whatever the other coding shortcut is called were there for the alarm module and I could make the changes I wanted although they have made no difference.

So it left me confused, I thought perhaps on my vehicle the comfort control module may have been a sub module of the body control module.

VCDS always leaves me with more questions than answers.

Hmm.... I see...

So 46 CC = BCM called really too?

If not possible to open, then how the autoscan opens, checks it and be able to report no faults found message?

There should be a way of accessing as there are  surely settings to adjust....

Post an autoscan so we can see how your car is configured 👍

Circuit diagrams seem not to feature J393 Central Convenience as a physically separate entity from Nov 2008 onwards. Connections that used to go to it seem to go to BCM instead.

Thanks Wino,

Now that I take a closer look at the autoscan, no 46 controller is shown although in the initial list is shown..

Have coded the new CAN getaway to as "not coded" instead of PQ35-PQ36 or PQ46.

I see BCM is listed with PQ-35, should the gateway also be coded PQ-35?

In this "module not coded" setting is only  possible to check the listing controllers/devices from the installation list and so the coding 001302 is generated as a 6 digit matching the last 6 same listing from the old 1K0..

Any advise should be changed or not?

Byte 0 of the CAN gateway should be coded as 35 as it's a PQ35 platform car...

Address 46 is a 'virtual module' and is actually part of 09. As such, it won't show up on an autoscan or let you do any coding/adaptions, it only exists for legacy reasons as some modules need to communicate with 46.

Instead, you'll need to perform changes in 09 :)

Yes, I understand that 46 is an "embedded" (sub)module of 09-electronics module.. so any settings are done in through that.

it shows up in autoscans  in the modules list, just not let to enter it.

PQ-35 thought it was a platform code.... but had in mind the A5 commercial code..

I'll select the PQ35-36  code so that the coding can be more appropriate.
