Headlight condensation

Featured Replies

just  bought my Octavia mk4 and noticed with all the rain recently that condensation has apeared at the base of the headlights adjacent the daytime running leds and slowly starts to dissipate when dry.  Has anyone had this problem is it something that should be referred back to the dealer as a fault or does it just need to be monitored as i believe these headlights are not a sealed unit hence could ingress a small amount of water.  Apologies if this has been raised before as Im a newbie.

Normal it seems. I have not had any yet, but they have even put it in the manual that it may happen and is not to be considered a fault

Just got my 72 plate Octavia VRS yesterday, fantastic car so far, I noticed condensation on the inside of both my front headlight clusters, I will enquire at the dealership on Tueaday but having read other comments here it seems to be a normal thing.

Hi all. Old topic…. But I’ve got condensation in my nearside front fog light. Anyone else had this? Thanks

It's fairly common tbh, in Octavia and other brands. If it goes away (usually when it's warmer), then it's fine. If it's sloshing about with fish in 🐠, probably time to get it sorted. I've tended to notice it towards evening time, when the temperature drops; them getting in it next day it's gone

Which one? Driver side? If yes, then it's pretty common. Saw quite a lot of complaints on multiple FB groups.

I have changed mine since it was like this for the whole 23/24 winter. Unfortunately on my own expenses since it was already out of warranty.

Passenger. I’m in the Uk. So yeah same as yours. IMG_3314.thumb.jpeg.fe702ce3f70dd67d97380a2ef5b9e356.jpeg

It does look like a fair amount of moisture in there @cjgreaves41, still in warranty?

@cjgreaves41 yeah. Same side of the car. Should be changed under warranty if the car still has it.

I only picked it up Monday! Not Škoda warranty but yes it has one.

Disappointed!

Don't be. This things happen unfortunately. With all cars.

In addition ! After changing mine, passenger side, in November 2024 I passed my first TUV check and I had a minor non-conformity. Seems that the fog light, as it comes from factory, horizontal calibration is not properly set, or set as expected by French TUV.

Maybe in other countries they are not as picky as they are here ...

BTW, if somebody has access to erWin, it would be nice to know if there is an instruction (Easy way hopefully) to calibrate it. Thanks in advance!

Cheers!
