EGR valve Replaced

Featured Replies

Car: 2012 Octavia 1.6cr tdi

Hi bought my 1st Skoda in December. Had it 2 weeks and glow plug light came on. Well under warranty Skoda diagnosed faulty EGR and they replaced it. I notice it does regens regularly as the revs are higher and fan runs.

The fix (EA189) was done on the car long before I bought it maybe 2018.

I'd like to know should I get the fix reversed and how much would it cost approx. When Skoda replaced the egr in January I asked them about the dpf but they told me it was OK.

Hi Andrew,

As I'm aware the warranty regarding the fix was limited to 2 yrs as part of their trust building measure (TBM). I suspect your car was updated more recently than you think. Skoda should be able to tell you when they did the work. There may be a sticker in the boot or engine bay too.

I don't think you can get the fix removed, but I may be wrong. When I last looked into buying a car that was affected and did some research, the fix was permanent. Others may know more.

It is possible to roll back to original software, but not sure about the the measures they do for the fix, someone else may be able to tell you the other work they do, it's Mabeys worth speaking to some tuners about rolling back👍🏻
