Spare wheel option for karoq with variable boot floor

Featured Replies

Hi,

Does anyone have a karoq with the variable boot floor. ? When choosing options you can select the space saver spare wheel but I can't see why not. It obviously has a wheel well. Has anyone fitted one after purchasing the car with that option?

* can't select that should say

There are two space saver spare wheels shown. 125/70R18 and 215/60R16. You can select the variable boot floor with the 125/70R18 space saver spare wheel, but not the 215/60R16 space saver spare wheel.

If you had four 215/60R16 tyres on the vehicle, then the 215/60R16 spare wheel wouldn't be a space saver (it would be a full size spare wheel) and the 50mph top speed limit would not apply.

I have a 2019 Karoq 1.5 SEL which I ordered with the 125/70/R18 spare wheel. I wasn't happy about doing a long journey and relying on this as a spare on such a big vehicle so I bought a matching alloy from ebay and the polystyrene side pieces that Skoda sell for the 4x4 (no wheel well) cars to support the floor with the space save wheel. After a bit of fiddling with the boot floor and extending the centre wheel clamp I managed to complete the conversion.

What I’ve done, having a proper spare for both “summer” and winter wheels.  Also do long hauls and if I’m unlucky enough to have a puncture I want to be able to get the wheel changed, crack on then sort out the puncture at my leisure.  Though I have a higher floor due to 4x4 gubbins so loose a bit of boot volume.

I didn’t bother extending the support for the floor in the centre of the wheel as I’ve enough junk that I carry  (jump leads, boots, clothing, etc) to fill the wheel with so all is flat.  Similarly either side of the wheel so I can carry reasonably heavy stuff in the boot with the floor supported.
