Superskoda Vs Alibaba

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have been looking for a black front emblem for my black magic sportline, on superskoda it is classed as Monte Carlo black and is costing 49.99 euros, on Alibaba it's called 90mm gloss black and is £5.99 with I think £3 delivery. A huge difference in cost.

I appreciate the one from superskoda is a genuine product, but has any one purchased from AliExpress? Is it worth paying about £30 extra for a genuine badge or is the one from Alibaba as good?

I appreciate any help.

Thanks.

Sorry I ment AliExpress. But for some reason typed Alibaba 🤷🏼‍♂️ 😂

I bought cheap on Ebay a set of wheel centre caps for the winter wheels on my Yeti. The "worm" appeared very quickly.

You pay your money and take your choice, However at 8.99 you are not chucking away a lot of money.

Haha my wife was on about trips we had booked the other day on a holiday 2 years ago through Alibaba so I assume that's why it was in my head 😂😂.

You are correct though that 8.99 is not a huge gamble so I think I may just order it from AliExpress and hope for the best. 👍

A repacement laptop keyboard was costing £70 but taking a few months to deliver from Toshiba, the only other part number being advertised was by your Alibaba at £9.99 and was supposed to take 15days to arrive.  Well despite no sign of the keyboard from Aliexpress,, they do keep me informed amost on a daily basis of further special offers, then I received an email yesterday to say that if the keyboard hasn''t arrived by May, to start the refund process.

I was dubious about buying from Ali and even more dubious when it said parts could be delayed at customs. I'm just waiting on my credit card being emptied now :D    That might be the connection to the 40 theives Sanqhar is looking for.

Seen a few others have ordered stuff from them but Ill never do so again.

If you want a black badge why not just paint the one you already have on your car?

Do you know I never even thought about costing painting the badge 👍

As for the 40 thieves and you not recieving your keyboard I think I will wait and price getting it painted before making a decision, I'm skint enough as it is with out my credit card or bank account being emptied 😂😂

I use Aliexpress a lot lately, around 30 items in the last 4 months, always pay by Paypal.  So far, everything arrived in under 3 weeks, one item is taking longer but tracking shows it cleared Heathrow customs, so is lost in UK RM network if anything.

About 70% of goods are as advertised, the rest you either argue for a hefty discount if you still want them, or open a dispute on Aliexpress and demand return and refund if goods are not fit for purpose.

Aliexpress do seller originated returns to a UK collection address, and I did get refunds on items such as £80+ "55W" HID ballasts that were only 40W after warmup, or a set of £20 "50W" LEDs that were 15W, it took less than a week to refund. It pays to check what you get and argue.

For Skoda specific parts, I recommend www.skoda-parts.com, shipping charge a bit steep now but if you order stuff that would be more than £50 at a dealer, Skoda Parts invariably work out cheaper.

Plus they have loads of original Skoda accessories that take days to arrive rather than the usual month from a UK dealer (UK dealers work out faster for parts but not accessories).

Anyway, just my 2 pence (+UK VAT charged now at both Aliexpress and Skoda Parts :wondering:)

I bought 4 badges from Superskoda. 2 are colour coded to my car and 2 are all black. They are certainly quite expensive, but I wanted quality so was prepared to pay for it.  Total cost from memory, around £130. The badges look great on the car though.

I have been trying to find these badges but on my Sportline the front badge external diameter is 110mm and rear is 100mm.... should I be looking for the internal diameters ? Am i being stupid

Don't forget the delivery cahrges from Superskoda - that'd be another tenner or so.  If the Aliexpress ones last only a year, you could order three or four and still be quids in by the time you sell the car.

I've bought many things from Aliexpress, somethimes they take a long time to arrive but only regretted it twice. The prices are so cheap anyway.  (Putting aside any ethical issues of dealing with China.)

There are also a couple of UK dealers who sell parts via Ebay, might be worth a look. Caffyns, I think, and the dealer in Sheffield sometimes through Ebay too.

TPS or even a main dealer is often cheaper than Superskoda and then you definitely know that you are getting OEM parts, in fact the times I have checked Superskoda for prices TPS have always been cheaper.
