Noisy folding mirror

Featured Replies

As anybody else experiencing a noisy folding passenger door mirror? If so any cures without having to book it in ?

Try silicone spray.

i have a strange noise on a left door mirror as well but no solution to fix it yet...will report that on my next visit to the garage

I suppose it might all bit a subjective...my folding mirrors on a MK3 FL have I think always had a small bit of a groan as they fold in and out, but not paid it much attention. Like @john999boy suggests a squirt of WD40 might be enough

I actually suggested silicone spray - not WD40!

Oops, my bad!

Mine groan a little on the Octavia and it is exactly the same groan as my folding mirrors on my previous Superb. Never really thought much of it.

My wife’s Karoq mirrors did the same but to be honest I do y think it’s a groan and more the sound the motors make, if it’s THAT sound that’s being referred to.
If they fold out and retract in at a decent speed, I doubt it’s an issue.

Yes I have had similar issues with my new VRS TDI 4 x 4 DSG but have seemed to have cured it by applying silicone spray three or four times over a number of days, especially into the folding bit and it seems to have done the trick.  Spray it in, wipe the excess away and then spray again.  Job done......so far!!!

Anyone solved this issue long term? My passenger wing mirror has developed a squeak today, 2 weeks old!

My local dealer replaced the full mirror for me.

Thanks. I'll have to book it in.

I've got a noisy mother and mother in law. I've tried lubricating them with copious amounts of alcohol, but still groan and squeak.

Any ideas?
