How many reverse light does mk2 have

Featured Replies

Hi Ive recently started driving a skoda fabia htp 2009. Just wondering if anyone knows how many reverse light it has. I know vehicles aren’t built with one reverse light and others with two but how many do htps have 🤧

Ours has one.

Thank you which side is the light on if you don’t mind me asking I’ve never really noticed it before

Next you'll be worrying that there's only one fog light at the back on the drivers side!

Oh is there, yeah I’m clueless haha only started driving the car 3/4 days ago😅thanks

The car is not here right now, but from memory white reverse left, red fog right. Ours is 2009, so the same as yours.

One rear reversing light and  one rear fog light standard fitting for most models these days, But on my old MK2 Fabia Estate 09  I  fitted a light cluster on the passenger side from a left hand drive model Fabia which has the holes and fittings like the right hand drive model, a few extra wires run from the other unit for reversing and fog  later and we had a 2 reversing lights and 2 fog lights, not that concerned about the fog lights so much but reversing lights were a lot better at night when reversing where we were, light unit was purchased from Skodaparts.com and specified a left hand drive rear cluster

This might not be a surprise but it's the other way round for LHD which is why it's better to say drivers side or passenger side for the avoidance of confusion.

Thank you all for helping me out youre the best👏🏻

Murdockman, are you saying you only needed to change the nearside light to LHD version and you could wire up two rear revers AND two rear fogs by wiring a feed for both, from the opposite side? Or did you add separate fogs?

Reading your post, it sounds like you could have added a reverse to the right/o/s light, so doing as you suggested would then add a fog to the left/n/s. Could you clarify that a little? Thanks.

Dont see how you do this on a Fabia 2, you can offcourse easily duplicate either the reverse OR fog on the other side, but you cannot have both unless you fit additional lamps.

I've seen it done on a Russian website, they used some after market LED bulbs that were bright white and bright red. Not sure the exact wiring situation but seen the pictures of it.

cool................:nerd:

I would still think you need to swap the right hand light as that has the red fog. Fitting a white bulb will make no difference to that, surely. I couldn't look at the link as my computers Safari won't load it. Perhaps I need to try google Chrome and then look up.

Ah, hang on, I think he said passenger side from a LHD so that WOULD be the offside, right hand cluster, on proper roads!

So, you swap for a LHD right side rear, you then have to wire the reverse bulb up from the nearside, left bulb, across the car to have two reverses...

Then you will get two red LED's, (Or red filaments) Fit them in and wire up the left, from the original right  and have two of each. I would think you need to drill a hole to take the extra bulb, each side, unless of course, the LHD version already has one. Not too difficult I suppose, if there is space to drill, without causing any damage to the lights internal structure.

I have often thought of this approach to old classic car headlights, where some had the whole light as a sealed unit, with the terminals fixed to the rear... Carefully cut a hole  fit a more updated bulb holder, seal it in the correct position and then fit a decent bulb inside. Get rid of those poor, dim  old lights and fit modern bulbs or even some LED's...

Might be slightly illegal but as the car will no longer require an MOT, it can't fail one! A "Normal" bulb should not be an issue anyway.

Or just do what 32KOFDATA did and fit a fog light to the bottom middle of the rear bumper.

Easier and looks better imo. Obviously you'd need the rear diffuser to complete the look.

You don't need to drill any holes, might do this myself.

I think 32k of data managed to get some red and white led bulbs so he could have 2 reverse lamps and just run the same bulbs for rear fogs. Fabia 2s have the reverse light on the passengers side, left side for rhd and vice versa for lhd. Similar story with fogs. The mk1 has 2 reverse lights so I have to wonder why the mk2 only has the one.
