Felicia 1.3 LXi Brake Pad Removal / Fitting

Featured Replies

I've had a search around for a guide to removing and replacing my brake pads but can't find one........?? The calipers say lucas on them and are look different to other set-ups I've changed i.e I cannot see the split pins to remove them?

Help / advise please.

Split pins? Not seen split pins in brakes for years..lol

Removing the pads couldnt be simpler. Remove the 13mm bolt at the bottom and swing the caliper up. Remove the pads and push the piston back. New pads in and refit.

If your stuggling then you really should leave them to the pros, brakes shouldnt be second guessed.

Cheers for the info and makes sense now I've seen the diagram I didn't want to start un-doing bolts all over the place.

Last set I did was about a year ago on my Leon Cupra R and these had retaining pins in them although the Bremo pads were a little more the the Felicia's!!

I think I had split pins on my first mini almost 20 years ago........!!

Brembos are a different matter as they are a race type caliper. They use clips and pins as they are quicker to remove.

If your buying new pads then use Ford Sierra pads, they are a lot cheaper and a lot easier to get hold of, I know I,ve just replaced mine. If you do not have a pad low warning lamp fitted then just snip the wires off or fit a led on the end and you now have one.
