2 car seats with adult passenger between?

Featured Replies

Has anyone successfully fitted in between 2 children in car seats in the back of a mk2 fabia estate?  At the moment my 6 MTH old and 3yp are in isofix base seats - there is no way I can fit between them ( I'm not enormous!) Keen to hear if anyone has managed this

Unlikely. It's barely doable in the Superb, which is a good deal bigger. If you need to keep an eye on the kids, you can get mirrors which clip on to the rear headrest that let you see them in the rearview mirror.

It's been 15 years since we had to use car seats, but can't you use a reverseible child's seat in the front passenger seat?

I don't think the Fabia has front ISOFIX mounts though.

Do your child seats not have the option of securing with the seat belt as opposed to the base?

We never had isofix in our day, all child seats were secured with the seat belt.

Understand it's not ideal in your case but if its safe and gets you out of a hole........

Some infant carriers can be held with the seat belt but ISOFIX/I-size is so much easier, and easier to get right when you're in a hurry/stressed/etc. You also have to remember to disable the passenger airbag if you put the child in the front.

Like every new generation of safety technology, I-size makes it easier to do things right, learning the lessons of what has gone before, while people mutter about how it wasn't like that in their day.

Certainly agree with you . Using the seat belt was always a pain, trying to route it correctly was never a 2 minute job.

The bases of the seats must be quite wide then to encroach on the middle seat. We've been 4 up before in our Fabia , still had middle seat spare.

Sorry , can't think of another option.

...The big irony is that the law governing the use of child seats was based original, purely on speculation that they sounded as if they would be safer! They may well have proved to be but cod science is NOT scientific, it is conjecture and guesswork.
