Tidied the Fab up in prep for going away a few trips over the coming weeks. It's looking quite good for a nearly 17 year old car.           Oh, an

So, got the insurance sorted for the Fabia, so it's back on the road as of Tuesday.   In the meantime, it found itself a friend. Well chuffed with this Vectra, not sure if I'll make a projec

You'll find production dates on things dotted around your car too if/when you have to repair something. :D

Yeah I took the glove box out last week to put a new heater resistor on as speed 1 had stopped working,  noticed a small paper sticker with a date printed on it I think.

The wee red nugget is going in for some TLC at my local independent tomorrow. Hoping the issues are nothing serious or expensive, we'll wait and see however.

What issues are you having mate?

Dodgy throttle pedal position sensor. You can pull the pedal back and the idling settles or it'll stop holding revs. I keep losing power intermittently (had my foot down in 3rd at 3-5k rpm and nothing where it used to throw me in the seat) and the car doesn't always start when warm - I'm thinking this is coil packs, which are on the to-do list once the pedal position sensor is done along with some sparkplugs.

I can get most the parts at a good price at my local TMS too, so that's a bonus.

Just as an update, the wee red nugget has been carefully probed by my local independent, who has reaffirmed my guess with the pedal position sensor. It's going to be off the road for a couple of days since I've pulled the trim apart to find a part number and am currently awaiting the arrival of a part which should be here as of Thursday with any luck... I paid the extra cost for "express" delivery, so it better be here by then. :D

At least you know what the issue is now, was there an error code relating to throttle position sensor? I had the issue in my daughter's Corsa and changed the pedal myself as comes as a complete sealed unit from Vauxhall. Not sure if the Skoda is the same or if the sensor is under the bonnet 😁

Nope, nothing. But I could pull the pedal towards me and it was behaving as normal.

I think it'll be the same as your daughter's Corsa, being one unit.

Day 1½ of not being able to drive the Furby, really makes me realise how often I use/spend time in the car. :D

Sad times! Do you know when it will be ready to drive again?

Tomorrow at the earliest, I paid extra for 24hr delivery and the part was dispatched this morning. It'd be ideal to have a spare Fabia (or similar) kicking about for emergency use such as these times.

She lives, and lives well. New parts arrived at 11am exactly this morning, runs with a little bit of fire under it's backside now instead of feeling limp and a pain to drive. I'm a happy man. :)

My headlights aren't that yellowed, it's just really, really cold in my part of the world.

Looks great 😁 must be nice to have it back. My new gear knob and gaitor arrived from China today looks really good for 9 quid! Got that and the VRS wheel to install at the weekend 😊

It was always there, just not in a drivable state...

It's back together to the best of my ability. Dash pieces are not my friend however. :D

Glad to hear it. I insist you make a project thread so I can watch this all unfold. :)

New phone means better photos of my Fabia, once I get to grips with it, that is.

I have ordered some stuff for the Fabia yet again. All will be revealed very soon. A fitting guide (if not available already) will be created for one of said parts. :)

So as you may know, I have a Springer Spaniel who travelled in the boot of the car, but that was effort including taking the dog guard from one car to the other and so on. Instead of this, I started a thread looking for a harness to hook onto the rear seats so my wee "pup" could travel in style. As such, he got my rear seat bases full of hairs and mud. :@

See here:

The stains on the seats are from when a mate spilled Cola when I put the foot down coming out of a junction... :D

To combat this, I channelled my inner pensioner, and stole an old tartan duvet/blanket and whacked it over the seat bases like so:

To finish, I also added the second of two mascots to my car, a Tesco 'Y2K bug' thing. Both are tucked behind the headrest and the little millennium critter is tucked away nicely using a cable tie to said head restraint.

And a piccy of my Furby for good measure...

That is all for now, weary readers. :)

Alright, been looking at standard Fabia's on AutoTrader (saved search, I swear I don't have a problem!!) and I think mine is definitely sitting ever so slightly lower than standard at the back.

Compared to mine:

Maybe it's just my paranoia, but I'm also not one to complain about free lowering, eh? :D

The red one looks like it's riding a bit high tbh maybe it's had new shocks recently 🤔

Possibly, I could put money on mine being the originals. Everything on this car is original besides serviceable items and things I've replaced AFAIK. I was on original brake discs until they were changed at 53k! :D

This has been posted in other threads, but here we are. Got AutoGlass coming out on Tuesday. Was a wee bit of wood or a stone chip that just bounced off of the windscreen after coming off of a log lorry. It's not only knackered my windscreen, but it's took some of the paint off of the a-pillar. So that'll be a job with the T-Cut and the touch-up paint.

Yes, I've come to the realisation that the one in the bottom pic is an external one, but it sticks to that rear quarter window quite well.

EDIT: After speaking with Colin, it turns out it's a wee cling-on one for that window.

This will probably be the last update for a wee while (probably a lie, but okay), or at least until I've got some more bits to fit... :)
