MY21 Sportline and no cd player

Featured Replies

Random question for the members here. My model year 21 koroq Sportline wasn't fitted with a CD player nor sd card slots. Was this a change Skoda did across the board or something that is region specific and relative to cost/s. Located in Australia.

Thank you

It was done across range by Skoda, Seat, VW from about 9 months ago

From memory, also replaced USB-A sockets by USB-C

(interestingly we have just bought a new IPad and that has USB-C instead of old Apple lightning connector), so appears everything is going that way

Thanks SurreyJohn,

I wasn't aware but did know the my21 were fitted with USB C type connectors. Out of interest can we use these to play music through ?

Ie ipod with type c cable or even a thumb drive ?

I am aware I can play stored music on my phone (via bluetooth/android/apple connect) but sometimes that's just a pain in the rear end.

It also appears Apple might finally be going over to type C connectors. I vaguely recall reading an article online that the EU was trying to push Apple to go over to type C connectors, this was under the premise to help mitigate excess cables and also help with waste for the environment.

Must admit I miss the 6 CD player I had in my Yeti.

Although I have stuff on a USB stick it's not the same as putting the latest disc into the car player.

My old iMac just crashed so now I have no means of copying from a CD to a USB stick.

I have replaced my data cds with a USB-C memory stick to store my music collection. The Media player in my MIB3 Amundsen finds tracks easily, by artist, album or genre, and you can also store these as favourites for quick access. Note that the favourite can also be an artist or genre as well as a single album.

There's no way to link an iPod that I have found.

Thanks for this information I do appreciate it. Does the mib3 have a size limit ? I just found a Scandisk with 128gb size which would be ideal given my music collection.

None mentioned in the manual, as long as you use VFAT, FAT16, FAT322, exFAT or NTFS format. I'm using a tiny 128GB memory stick in mine with a USB-C connector one end and a USB-A the other so I can load it on my PC then plug it into the car.

Thanks for the heads up, I might just use a type a to c cable that way I can store the thumb drive somewhere out of the way. I acknowledge you covered off on the format style of music, but do you know if ITunes uses any of the above mentioned formats ?

Reason being all my music is stored on that (back in the day when I could use my old ipods in my previous car)

The formats that CJJE mentioned are formats of the memory stick, not formats of the music files.

PetrolDave is correct. The Media app will read MP2, MP3, WMA, AAC, M4A, OGG, FLAC, WAV, etc audio files, so just about anything you can throw at it. My iTunes library holds my music in mP3 and WMA files. And my USB stick is a Integral 128GB Fusion Dual USB-C & USB 3.1 Flash Drive - 200MB/s (see at Integral 128GB Fusion Dual USB-C & USB 3.1 Flash Drive - 200MB/s £20.96 - Free Delivery | MyMemory) which is small enough to sit in the USB-C port under the sliding flap to the phonebox compartment.
