Jesus, is that a genuine wheel?

If so there will be a rather large inquest into that i'd imagine.

 That's a first for me!

  Oh my god! Were you travelling quickly? Any other damage?

I know it's not funny but you do have to have a little giggle. I've never seen anything like it.

It is a genuine wheel as well, you can see the V in the spokes.

I bet SUK will be interested to see that.

snapped the anti roll bar linkage. frightened the hell out of me when it went BOOM, blowing the tyre off!

taking it to skoda tomorrow!

Did it happen on a random moment? Or did you nudge something to set it off? Its an amazing bit of structural failure.

Has it had tyres as yet?

the tyre is the one from the factory and no other damage to the wheel before then.

Daz you have pm

OMG:eek: Thats unreal. Lucky you werent on the motorway.

Wow!!

When I first read this, I was expecting it to be snapped in half the other way, if you know what I mean...

That's scary!!

Scary stuff - keep us updated please!

You could file a lawsuit against them or maybe even get a new vRS FOC. Would work out much cheaper for Skoda if your car is standard?

Do shut up

It's a broken wheel FFS - No one was hurt and they will no doubt replace it when they take it for investigation.

Things happen and as long as no one was hurt and no lasting damage was caused it will be fine.

The bigger issue is - was it a faulty wheel, or a faulty batch?

You could file a lawsuit against them or maybe even get a new vRS FOC. Would work out much cheaper for Skoda if your car is standard?

Or they'll just replace the wheel/damaged suspension under warranty if it's a manufacturing defect - in which case filing a lawsuit would be pointless as they'll have fulfilled their legal obligation, and if they put right the damage there will be no point in giving anyone a new car.

So, probably best not to encourage people to get bullish until Skoda actually prove themselves to be unhelpful in resolving the matter...

Rob.

If you need car setting back to standard daz give me a call

that is unreal  i hope it didn't do any panel damage

I'm sorry but I completely disagree, in theory he could of been driving on the motorway, a manufacturing defect which i think we all agree isn't ordinary could of caused a major RTA in which case Skoda would definately have a problem.

"sorry sir, we admit there was a manufacturing defect, we'll repair the damage to your suspension, sorry for the death of your wife and child".

I know this didn't happen but does that make the situation ok?

Manufacturing defect or not it could of caused a serious accident.

Oh and Ross instead of telling people to shut up by voiceing their opinion, prehaps you should PM me if you have comments to make instead of making it public, hardly adult of you.

However, the world doesn't generally work on "what-ifs", and I'd imagine in the legal world this is especially the case.

Ultimatley all Skoda will do is to "right the wrong"...if the only damage is to the wheel and suspension, that's what will be put right. If there had been a fatality, they would no doubt end up paying out compensation, etc.

What is *very* unlikely to happen is that the event of the former will cause the resolution of the latter...

Sadly however you dont see the big picture and the fine balancing act we try to maintain with Skoda. We are trying to be friend them to further the site and stupid posts like that dont help and only further the distance between us.

Ok, so this is now a forum where we can never say negative things about Skoda incase we offend them? I thought this was supposed to be a discussion forum where people could air there opinions on the car/manufacturer? I do however see your point.

The world is made up of "what if's" I completely agree, however this problem was bound to happen, it was just a matter of time so it's not really a case of "what if" but "when", and on that logic it could of been very very costly...

Just my 2 penth worth. I won't make any further comments, sorry to offend anyone :o
