Rearview camera and wash feature

Featured Replies

Hi all

I wonder if somebody with the factory rearview camera on a MK4 could answer a query for me please?

When you active the camera wash, does it spray the rear screen too but without the rear window wiper activating?

Thanks

As far as i know, the only way to wash the cam, is to squirt the rear window, which will automatically set the wiper going.

There’s an option to squirt it when the rear view camera is displayed. It’s not obvious, I think it’s in the brightness settings section if memory serves

rearview camera can be washed when squirting the rear screen? Seriously that works? I didn't know that feature is possible...i have to try that tomorrow

thanks mate...will check 2morro :)

For me:

- From screen menu it says function is not availble

- By washing rear windows it also sprays the camera

I don’t have a rear wiper so maybe the option is only on screen if you have no rear wiper/washer. To be honest using the stalk would be easier

Exactly same with mine.

I finally remembered today to try to wash the rear camera through the infotainment system today. To my surprise I don't have this option available at all. I can only set image settings, but there is no option to clean the camera.

@Soko1982 can you maybe take a picture of how your menu looks when you have time?

Sure, here you go...

When in parking mode follow steps 1-3.

After pressing the camera icon i get a message saying function is currently not available.

That’s where mine is too, mine is a hatch, with no rear wiper.

Mine is a estate with a rear wiper.

Thanks @Soko1982 I'm pretty sure I don't have this icon. But I'll double check next time I'm in car.

No icon in my car.

Mine is hatch, RS, no wiper. I have this option (thanks for this thread as I did not know about it before). It works nicely. I had a dirty rear camera, decided to try out this function and it worked well :)

Could be this function is only intended for cars without rear wiper but Skoda forgot to remove it in the early software version.

No icon for me.

Yes. I think it works.  I have used it only once or twice.

Just FIY, Dealer confirmed that washer is available by default on liftback without viper. At least 2020 and onwards.

You mean the washing button inside the infotainment system?

Yes

Thanks. This is also very logical since not having a rear wiper you also don't have the stick to operate it and no way to wash the camera. So they added a button into the infotainment sytem.

Yeah. At first i was worried about me not getting it. Dealer confirmed this from somewhere. There was even false information in the accessory list, which claimed that it needs the wiper.
