New car spec slightly changed from advertised.

I picked up my 1.5 dsg SEL today, so far very happy with it only done 23 miles and it's done an update on the infotainment.
Bit disappointed to find no torch in the boot and no paddles on the steering wheel, got the phone hooked up and connect working very easily, though I find the nav a bit cumbersome, also suprised by no auto wipers, though if you read the spec it's just says light and rain sensors I stupidly thought with rain sensor you would have auto wipers. Great colour Quartz Grey

Nice colour, your infotainment updated quickly, had mine since March 1st , waiting for infotainment to update but just doesn't seem to happen.

Re auto wipers, not up one notch then controlled with the twiddle wheel on top of the stalk?

Torch vanished for my21 year spec change. I have one of them in my my20 car

I've read that wrong it looks like it's the first setting.

Should be one wipe, off, auto with the 4 position switch on top adjusting sensitivity, normal continuous and finally fast continuous. Otherwise when would you use the top control?

Try in first up position and spray some water onto windscreen sensor to confirm that you do have auto wipers.

Right side shows the wash function, wipe is left side.  I read the INT as variable intermittent and that goes to full time wiping and fast as the car decides, pretty much auto.

The settings are single wipe, then off then auto and then wash so the only adjustment is via the sensitivity , totally different from what I expected and what's in the manual

Ignore me I'm being stupid found the settings now I've moved the steering wheel. Crap day

At least we sorted the auto wipe, not a lot we can do for the torch or the flappy paddles.  Got both (MY20 SE) but never used the torch and only played with the paddles a couple of times, never used in anger.  Not that that helps much.

I drive my DSG  mainly in 'D' or 'E'. The only time I have used the paddles was to drop a couple of gears to prepare for a quick overtake on a country road. It feels like you save half a second compared to using the kickdown.

The paddles are handy but manual via the stick is good  and fast and knocking it into sport certainly gets it moving nicely

Yup would agree with that - just push the stick to the left and use it like a sequential gear change.

Used it a lot, especially for engine braking, when I had the DSG box.

New Karoq will go back to DSG... :-)

Going from manual to DSG is like getting married: not everything is quite your way anymore, but things still work surprisingly fine. :)

I used to use the stick change method on prev cars (Disco 3s & 4) quite a bit but have never found myself needing to do so with the DSG box.  Even with overtaking I find it responsive enough to get to the right gear when I need it.  To paraphrase Rouge One, I am in tune with the DSG and the DSG is in tune with me!  :D

Waiting on a call from dealer to collect the exact same car also in Quartz Grey next week, looking forward to it! Yours looks great! Have enjoyed my Leon for the last 3 years (also DSG) but wanted to get back to a bigger SUV type having had 2 X-Trails previously. They were not the most reliable cars I've ever had but I loved the high end spec and the SE L Karoq covers all the bases and has that not flashy but more utilitarian and practical feel I wanted. Swithered over business grey and quartz grey but I think I've made the right choice.

Or just tap it backwards to flick it into sport, it’s very responsive then for overtaking.

The 3 cylinder 1.0 tsi seems to have negligible engine braking, but maybe that’s just me

The Quartz grey is much nicer I was going business grey but the salesman changed my mind , saw the two together the Quartz makes the car look more substantial IYSWIM

There is a use for the paddles that I use all of the time though - allowing control without taking hands of wheel - when going downhill and braking a little bit, the gears change (say from D7 to D6 or D5) and, if I don't want to accelerate to tell the system its okay to change back to D7, the car stubbornly sits there in D5. I use the paddles to flick it back to M7 to get the revs down and then in about 20 seconds it reverts on its own to D7.   I know you can use the stick to do the same so its no biggie but I find it more intuitive to use the paddles.

:-)
