Fabia 1.9tdi VRs starts then dies

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a Fabia VRS 1.9 TDI (PD 130) BLT engine.

I bought a new car (Octavia VRS) in January and parked the fab on the drive.

Unfortunately the battery went flat and I have been to busy to do anything with the car.

I have gone to try to get it started today with jump leads and have the following issue.

It will turn over perfectly, fire then immediately stop.

It will do this every time I turn the key.

I have tried fitting a working tested battery and it does the same.

I have also tested to see if the hpfp is getting fuel which it is.

I have locked the car by the key, then unlocked and tried again with the same outcome.

I don't have a second key to test and I'm not able to get the car to a garage to have it scanned.

Is there anything else I can try it is any one local to Coventry who will scan for me for a couple of pints 😜

Many thanks in advance.

Don't know if this will help but had this on my Mk 2 TDI it was a bad connection in the vac block on the top of the drivers side wing near the bulkhead, water had got into the connection car would start but not run unplugged the connection gave it a good squirt with WD and pushed back in car then started and when the key was released car kept running, worth a try , only other problem might be the wiring from back of key harness to solenoid fuel cut off not holding open when key is  released from start position so fuel cut off switch  losses power and shuts down as if it was  turned off, some times spraying WD on connecting blocks and spade connections after car has been standing a while can help

Dude, what are you on about, he's asking for someone with a scanner to scan it, not asking for cracked software, can you even read?

There was a post from someone offering vcds lite registered; gone before you read it apparently.

1) Don't be so rude...

2) I had to moderate a post, offering an activated version of VCDS-lite, which is paid for software.

3) You probably should have read the forum guidlines before posting.

Cheers for that mate.

This might be a total sideways and unrelated but the brother in laws beloved TDi Golf IV had this exact scenario after being laid up and it turned out to be the cam sensor - She would fire up and run for 1 sec - We were of the notion that it was a dirty fuel filter or low fuel pressure and ended up in a rabbit hole.

Worth a look to rule it out or in anyways !

Thanks guys for the suggestions, haven't had a chance to do anything with it at the moment but will try the suggestions.
