drivers door squeaking karoq

Featured Replies

Hi I currently have a 69 plate karoq with a terrible squeaking noise on the drivers door. It has already been into the dealership once for this problem about 6 mths ago and seems to have returned. The first time it was in they told me that the hinges inside the the door did not have any lubrication grease on them, now it seems the problem has returned. Anyone have any words of wisdom before I go into the dealership on Tuesday.

The issue is the same, but the source is clear in my situation. There is a black rubber on the door edge of the inner bottom corner. It squeaks when you open the door while it rubs to the car body. I grease it casually

Hi thanks for your reply. Can you believe it, that is the exact solution. Can't thank you enough.

Vaseline or silicone spray? Mine has recently started squeaking too.

I put thin grease layer which stops squeaking at least 3-4 months. I can give it a try, silicone spray next time

I think I've got some grease up in the garage roof dating to when I used to do my own servicing on cars that had grease nipples. Think I'll try the Vaseline first.

I think I’d try a bit of silicone spray first, or maybe a little smear of silicone grease.

Vaseline does degrade rubber seals over time, and while the seals might not actually be real rubber it’s probably safer not to use it at all.

Keep it for when your thighs chafe.

I have put a small amount of silicone grease on the rubber and the problem has disappeared as if by magic. Thanks for all the advice.

I seem to remember a rubber lubricant mention in the Yeti forum some years ago. Do a search for Gummi Pflege.

Not used it myself.
