Wireless android auto connection

Featured Replies

Hey

i own a 2021 Kodiaq Style with an Amudsen Radio. Its a MIB 3 unit and it has android auto.

Which does work and connects nicely everytime.

The problem is that when i connect my phone is showing a sign in message for the Wifi connection.

When I try to sign in i get to skoda.cubictelecom.com adress where it sais connect now. When i try to sign in with my skoda connect account i get a error message. I also cant create a new account because its not showing my country in the adress portion.

 attached are some screen shots.

the problem is that the Phone doesnt have internet and therefore the Android functionalitz is limited. When i am doing it wired there are no issues.

Please try the following steps:

-Go on the phone on the wi-fi network of the MIB 3 and click to forget it

-Activate Wi-fi,bluetooth,cellular data and location services on the phone

-Go to the app buton on the car

-Select your phone from the MIB 3

-If the MIB 3 connects to your phone, a pop-up will appear on the phone stating that :"This wi-fi has no internet connection, do you still want to connect" -> do not press anything on the phone(just leave the pop-up be)

-Lock phone and it should work

If it still does not work ,try these steps:

-Make sure phone has already ability to do Wireless Android Auto

-Go on the phone on the wi-fi network of the MIB 3 and click to forget it

-Go to the MIB 3 settings and at WLAN make sure you have "infotainment sistem as Hotspot"

-Go to the MIB 3 setting and at Data connection the box for :"Integrated data connection (eSIM) to be Un tickked "

This is how it is working for me with a MJ21 MIB 3 Amundsen with Huawey P30 Pro(Non rooted) just developer options activated in Android Auto for Wireless Android Auto.

Good Luck.

Thank you!!!!

the ticked box for "integrated data connection" was the problem. Now it works perfectly.

Where did you exactly enable WiFi Android Auto on P30 pro? :-O

And for the car part Kodiaq 2020 did not came with that enabled, what do I need to do on the car side to get that working?

I have MacroDroid setup so that wen I enter my car (connect to bluetooth), my phone enables HotSpot and my car automatically connects to it. Would that suffice for Android Auto connection?

If your car didn't come with wireless Android Auto compatibility, it is not possible to just enable it in the head unit. That's not what this thread is about. You can however buy a separate 3rd party dongle to plug into the USB slot, which can allow you to use wireless android auto. This one, for example: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/aawireless#/

@kzendraWhen was your car produced ? if it is after kw 33(12.08.2020) then it will have MIB 3 head unit which is compatible for wireless android auto. If it is built before August 2020 then the car itself does not handle wireless android auto.

P30 pro you can enable wireless android auto option from the Advanced Settings in Android Auto on the phone itself.

I'm trying to get this to work with my Huawei P20 Pro running Android 10.. Will it work or does it need to be Android 11?

@technics100When I received the car back in november 2020 the P30 Pro was running with Android 10.Just go to developer options in Android Auto itself and activate Wireless Android Auto.

Thanks, how do I do that?

Great, got that and then it seemed to connect wirelessly. Only thing is it's trying to use the Skoda hotspot for data which isn't enabled.. is there a way to get it to use my phone like it does when plugged in?

Disable wifi?

Hello,

Can I upgrade by myself the android version of my 2018 Kodiaq in order to enable wireless connection using an adaptor?  Or is it dealer job only?

Thanks

You cannot upgrade the stereo, but you can use a 3rd party adapter.

Just buy AAwireless and plug it in.

Apologies in resurrecting an old thread, but does this work reliably for people? I have a Samsung Galaxy S22 and 2023 Kodiaq Sportline with Columbus head unit. What I find is it will work if I go through the steps listed above, and may work the next time I get in the car. But after that it will fail to connect properly. Is it reliable for everyone?
