MFSW mk2 octavia retrofit

Featured Replies

Chaps, I know there's lots of threads on this topic so i apologise for making a new thread but i'm struggling with what i need

so ive got my eyes on a mk3 MFSW from a yeti part number 5E0064241J FKM although on OEM site it states' Not to be used in the Octavia RS or Octavia Combi Scout. Cannot be used for vehicles with a shock absorber (PR-1Q3)' does anyone know why?

do i need to change the buttons from this one for a mk2 superb/ yeti?

Mk3 air bag

how do i know if i need to update my slip ring?

car has cruise, maxidot, sensors, standard vrs wheel

Erm, I don't think that wheel is correct for a Yeti or a MK2 Octavia...

More correctly, the wheel will fit but I'm pretty sure it'll have MQB style buttons rather than the PQ style you need. No idea why the shocks should make any difference or the RS/Scout limitation.

You might want to look at 5L0064241FKM instead as that is a Yeti part.

If you haven't got a MFSW already, you almost certainly need to replace the steering controller as it's unlikely yours will support a MFSW. An autoscan should confirm.

Nice one

so 5L0064241FKM the buttons will work or will they still need changing, if it's the latter is it worth finding ones with blanks such as 5E0064241H (or are these filled in?)

i can scan my car now and check

i've been looking at the following parts:

New For VW MFSW Multifunction Steering Wheel Module Cruise Control 1K0953549CH 5051154188446 | eBay

1K0 959 653 C Spiral Cable Clock Spring For VW Touran Golf Jetta MK5 A3 Octavia 5714267814731 | eBay

Part Number 5K0971584C MFSW Steering Wheel Cable Wire Harness | eBay

That style of steering module probably isn't correct for your car. There are three different, incompatible versions depending on when it was built. An autoscan will confirm which you need.

If the buttons are correct for a Yeti, they are correct for a MK2 Octavia. Both need the same PQ style buttons :)

I imaging the blanks can be removed but I've never tried so I can't be sure.

I'm not sure that's the correct loom, I think it might be for a MK2 FL wheel rather than a MK3 style? I'm pretty sure the button connector is different. It might be 5JA971584 you need but I'm not 100%.

I currently have a Octavia 2009 Octavia 16.TDI that I would like to retro fit with a MFSW, just wanted to check which parts I would need.  I also have a Pre-facelift MFSW, and know that the airbags are different, would it be possible to fit this, or would I be better off finding a Facelift MFSW.

The info from my Steering Column is that it has a

System description J0527 053

Hardware Version of 1K0953549CQ

Software version 0111
