coding for lights / locking etc

Featured Replies

i've found a reputable VAG-specialist coder who is confident of achieving most of the following. a 4-hour drive away, which would main having to go back to remove error codes will be a major hassle. how likely will these mods cause issues ? 2020 Kodiaq RS

orange front DRLs (at present, white DRLs turn orange when indicating)
• enable locking of car while engine remains running
• permanently disable Start/Stop
• disable beeping when driver’s door is opened while engine is running
• entire rear light cluster indicating
• memory of last-selected drive mode on start-up

I would be careful with making the front DRLs orange. Probably isn't road legal here.
I think just about all of those apart from entire rear light cluster indicating are fairly easy to do using OBD11, at least on my 2019 on looking at the coding's online.  I've added a few things like; HB assist, road sign recognition, speedo layout, rear DRL's myself, but the last drive mode memory one doesn't work on a 2019, so 2020 model not sure?

I haven't done any of those you are indicating though, as I wouldn't use any of them.

memory of last-selected drive mode on start-up

That would be interesting.

• enable locking of car while engine remains running
• permanently disable Start/Stop
These I have already activated with VCDS.

speedo layout

Can you please explain? I have found only option to choose skin.

Drive mode memory for MY20 onwards has to be done via VCP/ODIS in a pretty hacky way compared to VCDS/OBD11 - I wouldn't be touching that myself.

Speedo layout to me sounds like the speed intervals on the instrument cluster like this

Yes that's right.

Change this to

·         Version 4 for 260 kph end and 10 kph increments

·         or Version 5 for 280 kph end and 5 kph increments.

Stock on my VRS was version 0

Entire rear light cluster indicating?  What even is that..?

I’m suspecting that it, along with orange DRL, are things that come under “Just because you can doesn’t mean you should”.

Oh, the permanently disable start/stop.  Did VAG not put an end to that in later models?

Not sure if I'd go for any of those TBH - apart from maybe the last two which are potentially useful the others seem strange things to try and enable?

Oh I get that...   I just don't understand why you might need (or want) the coding you were talking about...   although maybe that's just me (I suppose it's like me wanting an alarm 'beep' coding)
