Front Grill VRS emblem

Featured Replies

Hello to all, just a quick question hoping someone can help, I got a VRS emblem from a main dealer earlier and I’m not wondering as to how to go about attaching it, the only thing that came from the main dealer was the badge itself I got no clips or anything, just wondering is double sided tape or glue a good avenue to go down or do I need to purchase clips separately? There’s absolutely no help on YouTube when it comes to attaching the emblem itself on the grill so I’m kind of at a loss, any help is much appreciated

Are you replacing the one already on there? I replaced my grill VRS badge with an all black one. They are glued on there quite securely, so I had to get a firm grip and pull it off hard. I then scrapped the old bits of glue off the grill with a sharp blade. The new one I fixed on with Araldite glue, making dead sure it was straight before the glue hardened. That badge is meant to be glued on, according to the info that came with it. All my chrome badges have now either gone for good, or been replaced with black or colour matched to the cars paint ones.

No I’m not replacing any thats on it as there was no VRS emblem on it when I bought it and there was no instructions that came with the emblem when I got it from the main dealer so I don’t know do I need to buy extra parts for it or is it a DIY job. What did you fix onto your grill to attach the emblem too?

You just have to glue it to the fins of the grill. Enlarge my photo to see where to place it.

So I don’t need to get any clips or anything of the sort? Just glue it to the fins directly?

That is correct. Just mark where you want to put it and slightly roughen up the grill fin surface to give the glue a key to stick to. A glue like Araldite is perfect for the job. As I said earlier though, make sure you get it straight before the glue goes off. Araldite usually holds it in place within 10 mins and is hard soon after, depending on the outside temperature of course.

@roaddetective thanks for posting this.

I’ve been thinking about going down the black badge route for a while. I was only looking at the grille the other day wondering how it was fitted.

The vRS badge appears to be stuck to a backing plate. I wasn’t sure if the grille was shaped to accommodate this or not. Good knowing the above as I can mark/tape before removing to get the same alignment for the new one.

Can I ask which black badge you bought, I’ve seen 3 front adhesive black badges on the Kopacek (formerly SuperSkoda) but not sure which is a match for the Mk3 FL vRS?

Ive fitted all black badges on the rear of mine. Im trying to get hold of Black and Moon White emblems for front and rear but SuperSkoda won't ship to Australian currently due to some Post issue there. Mine is a Nov 2019 build RS hatch Moon White. The black badges look awesome.

Any ideas on how I could get a couple of emblems.

The rear black badge comes with it's own self stick backing. Item number-- 5EO853687SNTA-F9R. Fairly certain the front grill badge, where you have to use your own glue, was number-- 5EO853679CNTA-F9R. There is no backing plate separate to the front grill badge. Once the old badge comes off, all you see on the part of the grill where it came from, is that the grill has a very small piece of it that is flat. Here is a photo of the rear of my motor with all black badges and black exhaust tips. It is fun getting those tips off to paint them, NOT!

@Pierre1968 you could remove the badges you have, disassemble, prep and spray yourself before refitting with new backing.

Failing that you could get it sent to a member who is able to receive delivery and get them to forward them on to you. Obviously this option will cost a bit more in postage and take longer to get to you.

Thanks for the reply. I was think of doing what you mentioned and send it to a member that is able to receive and would be willing to send it on. Finding that member is the next issue.

thanks

@Pierre1968 drop me a PM and I’ll see if I can help you out.

Part number for the front vRS badge I ordered for my facelift is 5E0 853 736 C 9B9, hope that helps.

Regarding folks questions on splitting it from back plate, see pictures. 4 ‘pins’ that align it on the plate, then Skoda’s crazy adhesive.

I too am considering replacing the stock grill badge with a custom one.

Heat up the existing one to loosen the glue?

Hair dryer did the trick, then just worked along the back of it with dental floss

Ah, I remember the pain in my fingers the dental floss caused when I changed my bonnet and boot badges.

How easy was it to glue the new one one?

Haha feel that, think I ended up wrapping it around a couple biro pens by the end. Just used 3m double sided like I did with the bonnet/boot. A little fiddly cutting pieces to size but never came off again to be fair to it

Now I reread what you said, if you mean the black back panel - I didn’t bother taking that off. I removed the badge from the back panel on the car, did the same with the new part and stuck the new badge to the old back panel, if that makes sense?? Basically, didn’t wanna risk snapping owt off the grill

Silly me thought you could not separate the back panel of the badge from the VRS part. So as I stated in an earlier post, I just pulled the whole thing off once I warmed it up. Thank goodness it did not damage the grill in doing so. Quite like just the VRS part of the badge glued on the grill though. It just blends into the grill so that it is hard to see unless you are close up. Just the way I like it.

Do you remember which Araldite you used? There are so many different versions. Thanks

It was Araldite Rapid. Goes off in 5 mins, which suited me as I was holding the badge in place while the glue set.

That’s a big no on an Octavia, it simply won’t work. 🤯

It took me a couple of seconds to get it!! I must be a bit slow today.

Hi. Where’s this main badge from? I’ve got the same colour and want to do the same thing. Thanks
