Karoq Multimedia unit

Featured Replies

Silly question I know, but wanted to know what other owners do. The multimedia unit with the SD slot, since my car doesn't have sat nav is there anything else I can use the unit for.

Your own music selection?

I'm assuming you have the Bolero infotainment unit, and so it will play MP3 music files from a SD card. Your owners manual will tell you if it will also play video files or display image files. My previous Golf also had a CD player in the unit but that has probably been deleted from newer cars?

Got the same media unit with the so far unused SD slot.  Not even sure i have an SD card.  It would be useful if it had a CD player, I have a couple of CDs that I can’t play on my iPhone.  All the unit does is take up glove box space and would be great if it was elsewhere in the car, like under a seat.

So does anyone know what is the maximum size SD card it will take to play these files. Would 128gb be too big or will I be better with 64gb. I'm not sure at all. Also how do i access these files to play them. Thanks

I don't have the same system as you, and can only read the pathetic digital owners manual on the Skoda website. So I urge you to read the paper copy you had with your car which I hope confirms what I am about to say.

I'd certainly try a 128Gb SD card, and as far as I can see, you play the MP3 files on it (or WMA etc) by pressing the MEDIA button on the side of the screen, and then selecting the media source by touching the button at the bottom left on the screen. It appears that you can play files from the SD1 port or a USB port.

Hopefully someone else with a 2019 Karoq will be able to confirm this.

Ok thanks Chris I will give it a go

The manuals dated 7/2019 and 11/2019 don't mention a maximum card capacity, just need to be SD, SDHC, or SDXC.  I use a 128 Gb card with no problems and you can get a lot of music on that.  I've got around 200 CDs ripped to it and they only use 36 Gb.

Even at MP3 quality on my Amundsen unit I can hear things my favourite old school Sennheiser headphones don't reproduce.
