Skoda Connect / Infotainment Online

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I got an email the other day says that my Skoda Connect and Infotainment Online are about to expire and I need to shell out some cash to keep them live.

Any time I have ever used Informainment online I have had to connect the car to my phone. I contacted Skoda and they said I should contact my dealer for a sim card... the car must already have a sim card as I can use the Skoda connect to view the cars location, lock the doors and other remote stuff.

Infotainment online seams expensive if you need to connect it to the internet using my phone, it doesn't really provide much.... am I missing something here?

Some cars also have a sim slot and make use of one of the free 200Mb/month Three sims that have been available. Depending upon the age of your car, you might not have this though and I can't remember which Infotainment 'parts' are fed from the eSim or real sim.

I used to subscribe to get real time traffic info on the Columbus without needing to connect a phone by a cable.

BTW, I'll move this to the S3 section as it might get missed in here.

Typo

I believe esim from about March 2020. Only one (Skoda approved) supplier based in Ireland. Have to pay online...one advantage is roaming is included. You can tether MIB3 to your mobile phone via wifi if you prefer. You also have to pay (separately) for services such as traffic.

I use my phone as a wifi hotspot and pay extra for the connected services.

The satnav traffic is very good, probably the same as Google traffic.

My 2019 Sportline PLus has a sim card slot, I used it for a year with a data only sim card, now just use my phone.

The cars location services, emergency help etc seem to be built into the car so work without an external sim/data connection?
