10" Dash Camera Rearview Mirror in my Felicia

Featured Replies

I have installed a TOGUARD 10" mirror in my Felicia, front camera is 2.5K and the rear is 1080P

Features: Auto On/Off, Date and Time Stamp, Display Screen, Dual Lens, DVR, Full HD, G-sensor (Motion Detection), Lock File Button, Loop Recording, Marine/Waterproof, Multi-Channel, Night Vision, Parking Mode

I didn't bought with GPS in purpose because i don't want to look high plus i would have an issue in the future with map updates so i didn't want to bother with that.

It's touch screen with some adjustment and the rear camera view has 4 scales of adjusting.

Microphone & Speaker are Built-in but i turn them to Off.

As always in real life things aren't so ideal as in the videos, the camera is on the left side (there are some models with the camera on the right side for UK style drivers).

I am use that mirror few days only, some times as a simple mirror some times with the camera (back view only) night and day and the parking camera is not connected in purpose to the bulb but in a switch in the ashtray because i want to open it only i difficult cases and not any time a put the reverse.

I thing it worthed the cost because solves problems especially at night moving on dark places-parking with low light etc.

I decided to not buy-install yet the hardware kit and automatically this means i don't have enough ''cover'' on the parking mode because the battery or the mirror won't last long enough but this protects my car's battery.

There are some Pros and Cons which i will explain them in future posts.

But are dash cams legal here in Greece?

Just an interesting idea for the camera mounting place.
Here it is mounted in the trunk lock:

Great idea but i am afraid that the lens are going to have some ''tough time" especially with the guys on car washing stores plus that i am unlock the trunk with the key many times so i don't want to remove the lock.

I don't use always the alarm so when i am working on a project or have it in inside my garage (birthplace house) i use the key for the trunk.

Since i am not young any more and i have injury in the lumbar vertebrae it's not easy for my to turn my head looking back for long time and put some ''guess" while parking especially with a bike behind me at night.

I bought this mirror mainly for parking assistance but as i said the things are not as they say in the promote videos.

In future posts i will explain more since now i have an issue with my TC-6 trip computer and i am focused there.

Actually there is no rear camera in that video. It is only the 5th actuator for central locking to open/close the trunk.

Try to look closer at the push button on the trunk door

The quality of the video is not that good. But after I visited his page on skoda-virt, I saw this image and now it's clear. The hard way he pushed into the camera to unlock the trunk fooled me and made me think he disabled the key lock to discourage possible thieves. Thank God the camera is recessed below the surface of the button.

Thus it's Ok for rear view (cars following) while driving but for parking i don't think will help due to the angle.

On my car a said to the electrician and added a button especially for the Parking function because i didn't want the camera to open every time i choose the reverse.

Many times you don't need the camera's help to park but on night times it's fantastic, it helps me a lot.

I just returned from vacations, i have to solve the TC-6 fuel sensor problem and then i will post some photos.

Update

For those who haven't bought a mirror like this here are some first impressions of mine:

The mirror looks a little bit ''bluish" but you can adjust the brightness.

With sunglasses things get a little bit worst so in very bright days and when i am wearing polarized sunglasses i turn the mirror off.

If you want to have him on ''parking mode" you need a extra hardware kit otherwise will drain you car battery (his own won't last other than few hours).

Mine does not has a memory when turned Off which means every time gets On shows the view from both cameras and i had to slide to see the rear view.

The lines when the R is selected in my model are not adjustable, for me it's not a problem.I have a separate button for reverse view when it's time to park and i can open the camera any time i want.

The main issue is the trembling when the car is on the idle for example traffic light, i have tested the double stripe gripe plus some adhesive tape on the back but the problem never solved 100% , it's just one click better.

Yes but this way after parking the car some days will drain your battery and especially at winter in a cold start "you are done".

Here is how the background looks in a semi-lighted parking.

Here is how it looks via the camera on parking mode.

Keep in mind that i haven't press the brake pedal (more light from the bulbs) or engage the R gear (some light plus from the bulb)

If i have done these the view would be better so think of this dash cam mirror especially if you park at night on alleys etc, could help you a lot from bumper damages.

Update

Few days back we had heavy rain and inevitably for me means: blur in the windows, traffic, low visibility front and almost nothing on rear.

Pushing the button for the rear glass resistance does not help me at all because it takes too much time to clear the whole windows and meanwhile i already have arrived at work,, i am a lucky gay and my work is not far away from home so no matter if a open the rear resistance till arrive at work the rear window will just have some lines cleared.

I have use some products in the past but since the root is short these don't work good.

All these years i have huge problem because i can not see anything from the rear mirror, here is a characteristic example:

Here is what i can see via the new mirror, the camera helps me to the maximum extent !

My only visibility was the side mirrors but now i am more confident in the rain and in next post i will show how the rear camera helps on parking those days with heavy rain.

I like this mod. Very useful.

Also...

If you change your backup lights with IR LEDs, you can park like a Terminator T-800 in the night! B)

Here is another instance, you enter your car at heavy rain and you want to put the reverse to leave from the parking (road)

What to you see from the rear mirror? Nothing but you have to put the reverse.

Here is the danger, behind you is a scooter and since you have no visibility at all you are going to throw it down

but with the parking camera everything is fine.

I envy those guys which already have from the factory a screen on their dashboard.

Such a fine example.

I also saw small kids run suddenly between parked cars.

Looking back via the camera on a low light condition road (no reverse gear on, no brake)

Now the same view but with the brake pedal pressed (bulbs on)

The red led on the top is from my internal antenna (radio).

@cheezemonkhai

Is this meant to be related to the bonnet hood somehow, because as it stands I can't see it?

.................

The camera is above the lisence plate among the lights so you can not see anything from the 5th door.

In this position and on the 4th scale you see what is close to the bumper to prevent the "baaam" while parking.
