Judder and lurch going into second - DSG7

Featured Replies

Hi, past few days the first time the DSG shifts into 2nd after starting the engine it seems to judder and jump but then be completely fine through the rest of the gears, including dropping back to 1st  a stop before moving off again.

any ideas what this could be? Praying it’s not the clutch but not sure what else it could be?

Hi, I know nothing of these gear systems but have heard of some cars with Mechatron (?) systems that have had issues  and/or Haldex systems that need a filter and oil replaced as a service interval. I think the Haldex only refers to 4WD cars so won't affect you but is there any service interval for yours, that has not been adhered to? I would stick to the recommended schedule like a leach to a skinny-dippers buttocks! I think the service schedule is every 40,000 miles.

Mechatronic.

Yes, Haldex is an electronic diff which engages the rear wheel drive on a FWD car, it's not really proper 4x4.

DSG gearboxes are not without their little foibles as they get older and more worn.

Hi, thanks for the advice. It’s the 7 speed dsg on a 2011 fabia. It only has about 48,000 miles on the clock. For info too, it’s fine if I set off in manual mode, only in D does it do the judder (which is quite violent)

No Haldex on your Fabia so no worries there.

Your DQ200 DSG should likely have had the Service Campaign carried out sometime after May 2014.

That was '34F7' to change the synthetic oil to mineral oil & a software update.

If done there should be a sticker in the spare tyre well showing by who and when.  *Pinned thread at the top of this section on the DSG's & the Service Campaign.*

Anyway if done or not the box has been fine up to now so you need to go have a diagnosis done by an Automatic Gearbox Specialist to see if it is going to need Clutch Packs, a MCU or something less expensive done to iy.
