Front headlamps plastic going yellow

Featured Replies

I've noticed the front headlamps plastic going yellow a little bit.

I know there things that can clear this up. So what's the best and cheapest options?

There also anyway to protect them from going yellowing once cleaned up?

Thanks

I cleaned my headlights with Aldi toothpaste, wet scrubbed with a rough dishcloth then polished with more toothpaste and a sponge. You can buy UV spray but I didn't bother I might do them again in the autumn it's an hour's work and costs about €1.80 or £1.50

I used T-cut, it's useless on modern paintwork but it cleaned up the headlights a treat.

Another vote for T-cut, I've tried the wet and dry paper rigmarole that did nothing. I found an old tube of T-cut paste and did the job in minutes.

I'll try T cut then.

Not really a solution but for MOT, Autoglym Super Resin Polish or similar, will reduce cloudiness a tad. Need a polish with "fillers" rather than "cutters".

The 3M restoration kit worked great on mine but despite regular application of headlight protector after the restoration, they went cloudy again. In the end I fitted new headlights.

3M kit....

I would go with t-cut as well this is my before and after using t-cut then as nice soft buffer pad after.

Then after.

I cleaned mine up but they went yellow again so after cleaning them up the 2nd time i got some clear headlamp uv protection film.

Another +1 for using car polish. If you had the time to wetsand and then buff them i'd go for it. Toothpaste works but doesnt last long at all.

The t cut on those pictures works amazing.

You put anything on after for protection?

Just a uv spray was like a fiver off ebay.
