New Owner - Software Question

Hi all. I'm collecting my car at the weekend (used) and have asked the dealer for confirmation that the car has the latest software update. He's replied saying "97eq 02 part is for the infotainment which currently is up to date".

 

I don't know what this means though! Can anyone add some detail or anything else I need to ask?

You can ask for Device part number and Software version. This way you will know if the general SW version is the latest or not. But there is no way to check if all car modules were updated with latest updates or not. These details are not available to check through car's infotainment system. 

The only way to see the SW version of the (many) modules in the car is a VCDS or OBD11 Auto-Scan or equivalent.

Cheers guys. I was told that the technician is checking to see if any more software updates are needed (main dealer) but I won't really know if what they tell me is necessarily accurate.

I really don't see any reason why they wouldn't want to update your car with the latest available updates. As far as I know they put your VIN in the computer and the system displays all available updates for your car.
