how bad is this 06 vRS stuttering

Featured Replies

I'm new to the forum but have just ordered a new Fabia vRS from drivethedeal.com for

Hey, you got a good deal, I've just ordered a Black Fab VRS as well from a local dealer and this is worrying me as well. Its due wednesday week so Im going to make sure and test drive it before I hand my money over. With so many affected I couldnt imagine they'd not eventually fix it.....maybe?

Certainly not worth losing sleep over. A lot of people haven't even noticed it!

Sure they'll be a software fix along soon for the people that are affected.

Nothing to worry unduly about. I have barely noticed it in 2500 miles - it's a particualr speed in a particular gear at a particular rpm and I can honestly say I've only definitely noticed it once.

It can't be that difficult for Skoda to fix with today's technology - I expect they're just waiting until their fix is spot on before the letter comes through the post, and we all go in and get our ECUs hooked up for five minutes.

Don't lose any more sleep otherwise you'll fall asleep at the wheel the day you get the car :D

your probably right, but I hear the related problem of some cars vibrating badly at idle. I take it I'd know if it seems excessive?

Thanks guys, I feel a lot better now! Although I think I

mine has the dreaded "BLT" engine ECU code and I can see why ppl call it a stutter cos it do do it a tad, but no way near as bad as people make out on here.Definitly nothing to worry about or even Reject the car for.

You have made a great choice in the car and I have had my "nearly stutter free" car for a week nearly and im still loving every minute of it.

I have had a  from all my mates and they have not said anything about it being a skoda the just compliment on how good it look and for the lucky ones how well it goes!

I wouldn't worry about it mate.... it doesn't bother me!

I own an 05 VRS and whilst it's in the garage I'm driving an 06 I haven't noticed any stuttering. Actually I was driving into work this morning thinking, what's this stuttering business all about then??

Just to give you the other side of the story I am one of those who think the stutter is totally unacceptable and ruins the driveability of the car. Skoda won't be fixing it, the dealers are clueless and you'll probably be stuck with it - so you really need that test drive before accepting the car from your dealer to be sure you'll be one of the driver's who doesn't care about the problem. BTW Skoda UK accepts that all '06 cars do this, so it really is down to individual driver acceptance.

LOL, was in the same position a few weeks back. Had mine 10 days, 800 miles. Noticed it maybe 6 times. It's barely noticable TBH. If you're really light on the throttle/almost coasting at about 35MPH 4th gear 1,800RPM and you lift off and on - there is a jumpy lag. My solution is to push through with throttle - which is an immediate cure. It's the only niggle - and not even a niggle!

With my old Mk3 GTi - the induction unit used to run home to mummy in heavy rain/after a car wash. It was like a lispy stutter. And would only cure after it dried out a bit. Driving 20 miles with nothing happening power wise - all the time with your induction unit getting shredded is far worse LOL!

are you sure you are using the throttle? pumping the brake will do the same!;) (joke - please take this with pinch of salt.....I guess you won't)

I honestly don't see that it can be soo much worse on your car Kerry than anyone elses. maybe it's the difference between men and women drivers? not been sexist just women do actually drive differently.

I have noticed it a couple of times but it happens rarely and is no big deal when it does as it doesn't make any affect on driving /speed/direction. It's definitly not unsafe

I'd always assumed Kerry was a bloke based on previous posts :o

I have had my 06 vRS for 6 weeks now and have done 3000 miles and have not had a single stutter - I have tried a few times to replicate the conditions described in the various threads to induce this stutter; but I have never achieved it. The only thing I have noticed is the car is getting faster:thumbup:   and the power band slightly longer:thumbup: .

you could be right. maybe Kerry could help us?

I've never known Kerry to be a blokes name. must be a bit:O :D

the people who are rejecting the cars are missing out big time!

I accelerated off a roundabout today and it took me by suprise! how fun it was!

Oh they do, but the owners aren't as dillusional about their cars which makes winding them up less of a challenge ;)

I'm fairly sure my car is the same as all the rest. It does depend on how you drive to what extent the stutter bothers you. I do a lot of low-speed town driving in traffic, where it is most annoying. On a high speed blast it doesn't annoy. it's probably also true that once you have noticed it (it took me a week, or so) it is more bothersome each time it happens.

The simple fact is that it is a fault, it shouldn't do it and Skoda should fix it; but I've been around cars and car manufacturers long enough to know that nothing will be done for existing owners no matter how much fuss they make.

Can't see whether I'm a bloke or not is relevant; but I am.

i have this stuttering problem with my fabia when it is sitting idle but its not a vrs its a y reg 1.4 8v comfort model i took it back to the garage where i bought it and they sent it to a engine management specialist and had the ecu hooked up and everything was spot on  so there is nothing that can be done about it and to be honest i dont really notice it anymore;)

My Black Magic is 3 weeks old with 750 miles on the clock. Yes there is a stutter but it is nothing to worry about. I agree Skoda wil bring out a fix, but just wait until you get behind the wheel and see what a smooth drive it is and feel the power in mid range. I don't seem to experience "the roll" others talk about either.

I also have ESP which saves me wearing out the brakes into corners and leather seats which are worth every penny. Cruise control isn't bad either but I find it a strange sensation not having used it before. The only car which has over taken me recently was an Octavia vRS with two old ladies on board, nattering away. I was only clocking 95mph but they went past vroooooom!!!

Chris[/quote']

well vice versa Im laughing at you thinking you wound me up

cos I am very happy with my car and for me it is powerful and it handles well!

is that ok with you chris? or Am I wrong in thinking this? maybe I should see a doctor cos of this?

I don't see who you are trying to disuade. yourself because of the move to the mondeo (Booring) from the Fabia VRS or just TRYING to wind people up.

by the way I don't think many people could tell if people are wound up on a forum??

What is it about my car do you think im being dillusional about? you honestly don't make sense at all and your reasoning is soo bad it's untrue

Can't see whether I'm a bloke or not is relevant; but I am.

didn't see that coming!

Incidentally, I finally got round to checking the codes printed inside my service manual and the fated "BLT" is there.

So going on what's been said on this board, mines stutters but i still haven't noticed it.
