Skoda 1.5 TSI ACT

Great to hear that. I wonder the problem is if some cars get it and some dont. Sounds like a fixable problem. For how many miles did you use the 1.5 tsi and 1.5 e-tec?

1.5tsi has now been for 67000km. Had it from the factory. E-tec only for like 300km. ACT on both are quite the same, expect e-tec shuts the engine off when coasting.

Nice to hear that. Thank you.

I see. Have you been to the skoda service to ask them about the problem?

Yes, the dealership took the car in overnight to test it the following morning. However, they claimed they couldn't recreate the problem. They did update the software but that didn't resolve this issue.

If it's more pronounced over winter then I'll try again.

I think they know what problem you talking about but they act like they dont. Hope it comes a update soon to solve both the kangarooing and the vibrations.

We have O4 1.5 Style manual.

ACT is no issue, I can sense it always, but passengers do not. When my wife is driving, she doesn't know, doesn't care, doesn't hear, or feel anything, or is aware that such a system exists in the car. I suppose majority of owners are like her.

Kangorooing a bit is still there, especially when releasing clutch gently, but not a thing to avoid car.

Yeah just like you say, i think the ACT vibration is on every 1.5 tsi but it is a question whether you feel/hear it or not. Can i ask why you chose the manual instead of the DSG?

Yes you can, budget was precisely to fit this car and it was on the stock very nicely equipped with virtual cockpit, lane assist, Columbus, 17", matrix lights, etc, can't recall everything.

But, I am fully agreed that DSG is better choice with such a _not_ fun car to drive. The other car we drive, from the signature, is the funnier one.

I chose manual mainly because i like it. And it's fine on this car apart from the occasional jumpyness on the 1st gear. I've driven dsg equipped VAG cars now and then and while they are nice in traffic, i hate the feeling of not being in control.

Agree with you. The reason i'm asking is that the 1.5 tsi has the dq200, what i've heard is the least reliable DSG. But maybe they've been improved lately. Time will tell. Thank you.

Yes, DQ200 has been improved.

@nidza

Can you say when that happened & is that anytime since 2018 & WLTP / RDE coming in, and what they did to improve reliability / quality control / software issues,

other than start using DQ200's on Mild Hybrids?

Those with ones under a year old must just be the few unlucky ones that Skoda / VW will have you believe just do not know how to drive.

There have been since 2009 millions with no issues, but still plenty that have from 2017, or the last Australian recall in 2019.

Things get overblown on the Internet according to many / manufacturers, and people only come to complain seemingly, or so VW Group like people to believe.

Cannot say, but clearly the market doesn't complain for some time as in early days about that gearbox. It must have been under severe revision. Why they are silent, because then they must accept they have been delivering for years faulty product.

It will be interesting if someone can tell what DQ200 parts have been upgraded, is it actuators, mechatronic control units. have they got improved clutch packs or is it just Software that finally they have which controls the boxes better.

People will know how 2018 DQ200's are after 3 or more years next year maybe, and by then Skoda / VW might deal with those still getting issues.

If Skoda produce over 2,200 DQ200 a day under normal conditions and only 0.5% have issues then that is still a lts of DQ200's with issues.

Over a decade on from first producing them you would hope VW Group / Skoda have got the hang of them.

My brother in law has a 2017 Octavia ST DSG (do we say ST in here or estate?) Anyway the only switch between 2 and 4 cylinders I noticed was the pull and sudden engine scream 🤣

Hi all - we've had our Mk5 for almost 2 months now and have already had the car back to the dealer re the kangarooing issue... apparently a total of 3 Skoda techs failed to find this fault 🙄 even from a cold start as we left the car with them ovetnight for this very test.  The guy I spoke to in the service dept advised that they had updated the software twice, however this was just for the infotainment only.... they did suggest a further assisted test drive which might help, however having read about this on this forum and the Honest John website, I feel they may simply advise that the jerking is a bonus feature/characteristic of the engine 😀

This is our first Skoda and a big purchase for our family, we're quite astonished by their response and generally disappointed as it seems it may be a long way off being resolved.

I read somewhere that there was also a technical bulletin from VAG acknowledging this issue... does anyone else know about this? or any other docs from VAG/Skoda mentioning the fault?

Pretty sure we can't all be making it up!! If we can't get this resolved via the proper channels, there may be another way to address this but hopefully it won't come to that.

Oh I wouldn't worry about that. They have known about this for about two years now and nothing has been done.

Scary eh

They've know for years. Took mine back and they said they coukd find the issue with mine either. I rejected mine in the end and am happy I did so.

I would not consider this a real issue. Actually, if you wait approx. 1 min. (depending on the outdoor temperature) until the tahometer goes below 1000 rot/min. there will be no kangaroo effect.

Seriously?? Wanna buy my car then? 🤣 I disagree that its not a real issue, I don't think I'm alone either. I might try you suggestion though as I'm not getting anywhere with Skoda 🤔
