Where is YOUR sweetspot ?

Featured Replies

Mine seems to be at 3100rpm - or just below maximum torque (remapped) and I find that the car just gets on with it if I'm not in a red-lining mood, just like my diesels did.

Anyone else have a favourite change up point, or notice anywhere else where it just seems to 'gel'

ps. No, I do not have the UK's only diesel 4x4...

I find this a very personal question... even SWMBO is still searching for mine ;)

In second gear just barely moving, foot to the floor, then it gets to 2k rpm and it starts to fly.Looking in rear view mirror at cars disappearing adds to speed sensation.Still would like to be Jabba'd though. David

Its exactly the same when Jabba'd...

Only much much better ! :drive:

What about our diesel Torque junkies ? (I count you as friends by the way;) )

Absolutely, I love torque. We can all have 2 squillion bhp at 10000 revs but it means diddly without something low down. David

I love booting it from 1k rpm in 2nd or 3rd gear.. it hits peak torque just under 2k and you get pushed back into your seat... 3rd gear is ideal for point and squirt overtaking on urban roads.. :)

2.5k onwards in third away from roundabouts. :D :D

3750, any gear :D

I'd say the sweet spot in 2nd is from about 2250RPM, where it whizzes to 4K quite sharpish. 3rd gear from the same revs is pretty good too, plus it'll go to about 80mph, which can help with overtaking when 4th gear is a bit "sluggish"

I'm hoping Jabba can excentuate (sp?) my sweet spot.

I was going to start this answer by saying, "Sat next to me in the car every day" :o:D

mid 3's and then it really goes.

about 4000 then it screams to 7200..... :D

1650rpm (approx 85% of max torque) - 2600rpm (max torque) ;)

3750, any gear :D

Sums it up for me too.

If you drive the auto like I do then you could say that this is not applicable, but I have to say for the auto, tthe red line's best.

Sums it up for me too.

likewise...FORWARD GEARS ONLY........ but maybe around 3500..........

Do we assume TaviaRS and Dutch4x4 have hit this sweet spot in reverse? There's and idea for a track day, especially with the outstanding rear visibility offered by the saloon Octy!
