Fabia mk1 seat height

Featured Replies

Hi, this is my first post in this forum. I’ve had a quick search and can’t seem to find anything. The drivers seat on my Fabia MK1 sinks after being height adjusted. I’ve noticed this on other older cars and figured there must be a gas strut that’s failed. Not sure what it’s called though, can anyone help?

I've never seen any mention of gas strut for maintaining height of drivers seat, so I'll leave that for out techie guys. I have seen a warning ( and experienced it my self) about driver seat lowering when the lever  is nudged getting in/out of car. Possibly this is the problem or cause of it. Of late I've developed a hip problem which means moving the seat back to get out . Possibly co incidence, but I've noticed seat drops over time .

Definitely no gas strut but as mentioned above ours used to lower as it got caught getting in and out the car.

Yeah mine sinks with me nudging the lever getting in and out. I usually just pull it back up a notch every time I get in.

It's an unfortunate side effect of the placement and size of the lever that it's right where your leg ends up as you step out of the car.

As others there isn't. The lever on my Octavia is telescopic though, so are you pushing it back in after adjusting?

The handle is not telescopic on Mk1 Fabias. The mechanism that adjusts the height is part number 6Q0 881 053 B

I end up dropping my seat down accidentally getting in and out quite often. It's a slight inconvenience for me but I just pull it back up :D
