Exhaust system

Featured Replies

Got a 2013 Fabia Monte Carlo 1200 and can't get an exhaust for it from anyone other than a dealer. I can get a custom stainless made for about that price. Mine has the square shaped silencer at the rear and it's a complete section from tail pipe past rear silencer to the centre silencer to the clamp sleeve, so probably original factory.

it's only the outer skin of the rear silencer that's peeled off at the minute but must be on its way out.

anybody help out with a supplier please.

I'd disagree with the last part of that sentence.  It may last years and years before the inner skin fails. Leave it alone 'til then.

Did you get a part number from the dealer?

I never bothered with the part number once it went near the 400 quid mark but I have given the car details to several suppliers and they tell me it's not available in their range. Klarius being one of the makes.

even a sport go faster item if it's not too noisy since it's the wife's car.

Nonsense, my 1.4 Mark 1 is still on the original system at 21 years old, it lost its outer skin years ago.

Unless you just enjoy wasting money then I'd leave well alone.

Thanks for that, I might just leave it and I was planning to run it until it failed but knowing where to get a part in advance rather than await a fail helps but I doubt I will have it 20 years

They used to rot from the inside out faster than they did from the outside in. But with ultra-low sulphur fuels this is a thing of the past.

My car is a octavia vrs diesal variant, love Skoda. Wife loves the wee Fabia

one other point you might help with the service light won't stay off, I reset it and it pops back on and I think it's tied into a fault in the computer since the data a telephone stuff  keeps acting up

If its the backbox you're on about I got a midpipe and a backbox for about 80 euro last year. My backbox was like yours, honestly would have been fine looking back.

My back exhaust went after 9 years of use but when i went to change it they were quoting for pipe as well due to to rust , but they wanted to fit a twin pipe exhaust back box and bodge up some hanging brackets as they could not get the correct single pipe exhaust back box that was on the car,  dealers would not sell me the system they wanted to fit it but i found a Bosal exhaust catalogue  online had all the parts  brackets gaskets clamps etc and numbers and found prices online with delivery if i remember i had a front pipe £27 a connecting pipe £32 and a single pipe outlet exhaust £59 and fitted it myself I was quoted around £450 from dealership and £200 from motor factors but the only showed the twin pipe exhaust which looked like a square and had different locating hangers than my car, give it a try might give you an idea

Prices are similar to what I'm being quoted but at the minute can't get one.

will try bosal, mines the square one and other don't match the hangers. Don't want all this hasle if it goes.  👍

They don't 'go' because the system is stainless, it's a low grade of stainless that does rust, albeit very, very slowly.

So unless you have some sort of incurable OCD you probably needn't worry about it.

Either that or completely ignore us here on the forum and tell the missus you're the expert and it's the rest of us who don't know what we're talking about.
