Auto Close windows upon rain detection / time lapsed

Featured Replies

I have been researching away trying to see if anyone has successfully got this feature on their Superb. Having recently been on the end of an open window with thunderstorm and my forgetful natures I was hopeful that this feature could be activated. I see this was possible in S2.

Can anyone advise if they have managed to do this on S3 or similar platform cars?

Auto close with rain won't work unless u have a particular rain/light recognition sensor module fitted, which is sadly not the case for the mk3 Superb.

My mk2 Octavia RS had it, and it was such a handy feature.

The mk3 Superb gets the RLHS version.

It's also not just a Superb or Skoda thing, it's across the VWAG.

U need the RLFSS version, which supports rain closing.

Some of the earlier MY15 & MY16 mk3 Superbs were fitted with the RLFSS version.  Those can enable Auto close.

U could retrofit the RLFSS sensor version, but its a big job and the sensor holder is a different shape to the RLHS sensor.

Just out of curiosity, RLHS stands for RainLIghtHumiditySensor, and RLFSS is RainLight??Sensor? Thnx

I think the "F" in the RLFS stands for Feuchtigkeit which is basically German for humidity...

Then, by my judgement it should be the same? Right? Both are rain light and humidity, or i might be wrong!

An autoscan will show it or you can remove the trim to find the part number:

   Rain Light Recognition Sensor:
   Subsystem 2 - Part No SW: 5Q0 955 547     HW: 5Q0 955 547   Labels: 5Q0-955-547.CLB
   Component: RLFS  024 0042

   Rain Light Recognition Sensor:
   Subsystem 2 - Part No SW: 5Q0 955 547 A    HW: 5Q0 955 547 A  Labels: 5Q0-955-547.CLB
   Component: RLHS  037 0059

   Rain Light Recognition Sensor:
   Subsystem 2 - Part No SW: 5Q0 955 547 B    HW: 5Q0 955 547 B  Labels: 5Q0-955-547.CLB
   Component: RLHS  050 0107

Can you just explain the difference between RLFS and RLHS?

RLFS supports rain closing, RLHS doesn't :D

Otherwise, I've no idea what the difference is I'm afraid... Older cars got the RLFS and then at some point, VAG decided to swap to the RLHS, only they will know why.

Ahh got it, thought that there was a difference in the abbreviation, or something like that.. Thnx!

On a slightly different note, is it possible to get part numbers for any and all components in the car if you scan for them?

Most control modules report their part number during an autoscan 👍

I’ll check the last scan I did of the 280 and see if I can find it. It’s a December ‘15 build ‘16MY car, so I suppose it could have either.

Just checked mine it's RLHS unfortunately 😞
