Spare wheel / jack - polystyrene tray?

BasilHume

Recommended Posts

My 2017 SE has a spare wheel complete with jack and spanner. It looks like they may have been used previously, which tallies with the car having come to me with mismatched tyres at the rear.

My question is how should I store the jack and spanner within the rear wheel / well? These are currently moving around inside the spare wheel unsupported, whereas in other cars there's often a polystyrene tray of some sorts.

You can get them on eBay. This one's for an Octavia.

Bah. The tray that arrived wouldn’t fit - a waste of a fiver! It was apparently the right part, so I’m not sure if I will bother again and just make do!

Well, the tray for my Octavia nominally looks identical, but sits like the photo inside a 16x6.5ET42 wheel. I doubt it would fit anything smaller.

(ETA: KenONeill posted whilst I was still typing, happens a lot to me as I'm a slow thinker and typist.)

Basil,

are you sure the spare wheel is correct to your particular vehicle, what size is it, what markings on it and what make model and size is the tyre?

I wouldn't know if its correct but others might.

1J0012115AA allows a 15" wheel to fit. There doesn't appear to be a tool kit bag that won't allow a 15" wheel to fit.

K doesn't mean kit.

The numbers denote the version of the part. You can have A, B, C, D and they all mean different versions of the original part. Some parts will also have a colour code after the PN (9B9 LK2 NF8 etc) for example the dash insert (grey metal, black carbon effect etc) the PN is 6V1 858 418, but you then have to list the version and colour code. The satin black inset is 6V1 858 418 A 9B9, the white piano insert is 6V1 858 418 A NP4 and the brushed effect (Standard fabia, S, SE, Colour Edition) is 6V1 858 418 A NH1.

This is a great explanation of the PN's - https://www.darksidedevelopments.co.uk/Blog/vw-part-numbers-explained/

I stand (well sit) corrected, thanks for the info.
